Review sentiment over time

Weekly positive-review rate (green) and review volume (bars). Dashed lines mark significant patches; the amber line is the start of the current scoring window. Hover the dots to see what drove a dip or a jump.

How this score was computed

The VGC Score is a weighted blend on a press-comparable 0-100 quality scale. Steam approval rates are first calibrated (95% positive on Steam ≈ 89.5 quality, since Steam approval skews high). Press and tracked creator reviews each count ~2x a player review and share one cap against player evidence (creator buy/skip calls pool into an approval rate, calibrated like Steam approval); all-time sentiment is capped and halved (it's context, not verdict); reviews of the current build carry the most weight when a fresh patch anchors the window; and a 'typical game' prior keeps small samples from pegging the scale. Because press reviews and Metacritic user aggregates describe the launch build, their weight decays as the game ages (3-year half-life after a 1-year grace). That's how a game that launched rough can outgrow its old reception once updates win players over. Reviews under 2h playtime (the refund window), non-Steam activations, and free copies are downweighted.

Acclaim gate: the raw blend lands at 92.9, but scores above 88 must be earned in front of a mass audience; this verdict rests on 8,360 player reviews, a largely self-selected fanbase. As more players weigh in, the ceiling rises (full scale unlocks at 100,000 reviews).

I adore Minishoot' Adventures, y’all. It’s less puzzle-oriented than most Zelda games, but it nails the feeling of exploration I love in those stories and has a combat system all of its own that is delightful. If you grew up exploring Hyrule on the NES like I did, I cannot recommend this game enough.

Minishoot’ Adventures is one of my favorite games on the Nintendo Switch 2. It feels right at home, especially since it clearly takes inspiration from games like The Legend of Zelda and Metroid. It does little to hold your hand, but subtle clues point you in the right direction on where to go and what to do next. There are plenty of hidden secrets as well, giving completionists a lot to explore. If you’re a fan of twin-stick shooters or exploration heavy games like Zelda, Minishoot’ Adventures deserves a spot in your library.

SoulGame Studio’s title combines the magical exploration of the early The Legend of Zelda games with the frenetic chaos of a twin-stick spaceship shooter into a unique experience. Minishoot’ Adventures is one of the most enjoyable games I’ve had the pleasure of playing. So much so that I finished it in two sessions during which I found it really hard to put down the controller. It’s a colorful, frenetic, and well-balanced experience that left me with a smile on my face and a little void in my heart after finishing it.

Minishoot’ Adventures is a game I owe an apology to. I never expected such depth beneath its surface. Its structure and apparent simplicity lead players to almost unconsciously complete everything. Thanks to a readable map, strong quality-of-life features and good level design. Its minimalist aesthetic works wonderfully for both environments and enemies. Each ship, even those you rescue, has a unique design, and seeing them communicate in their own language is adorable. The level design brought me back to the 8-bit Zelda era and that constant sense of discovery, enhanced by the Metroidvania elements. Special mention goes to the excellent soundtrack. Boss fights are challenging and rewarding, with difficulty sometimes pushing quite high. The camera is well-managed and never becomes an additional obstacle. Which I appreciated. As mentioned earlier, some open-map encounters can feel visually messy, and unexpected off-screen hits can be frustrating. Another minor flaw is the lack of depth in the ship upgrade system. It’s not bad, but it could have been more refined and less “breakable.” Still, these issues don’t significantly harm the overall experience. Minishoot’ Adventures is a true surprise that I can’t help but praise.

It’s so pretty, and so happy, and somehow non-verbal spaceships are able to have meaningful relationships. More importantly, Minishoot is also exquisitely well designed, with splendid dungeons to puzzle and fight through, and a vast overworld that’s so smothered in secrets that I’m still revelling in finding every part of the game long after I’ve rolled credits. This is utterly stunning.

Although not all Legend of Zelda elements make the transition where it may have helped, Minishoot Adventures is a creative and successful blend of top-down adventuring and twin-stick shooter gameplay. Plenty to discover, collect and challenge yourself with makes for a thoroughly rewarding experience that, despite feeling like a bit more could be extracted from this genre mashup, will greatly satisfy both classic Zelda and shoot ‘em up fans.

An absolutely fascinating mix of classic action-adventure and twin-stick shooting styles that works, but that can be frustrating at times too

Minishoot' justifies the case for being worth your time in spades. This one may fly under the radar for most, but I beg of you to look up from the new triple A hotness and enjoy this fantastic diamond in the rough–for all the retro feels that it invokes, but also for doing something wholly new. Top to bottom, Minishoot shoots for the stars, and lands among game of the year material.

It is a trap to think that game development is easy when you see it so deftly made. It is strange to feel like a nameless ship has charisma, but the way your ship interacts with others makes it impossible not to draw a smile on your face. To figure out which way to go in each carefully designed level and shoot your way out while avoiding the complex projectile patterns is rewarding.

Minishoot' Adventures is just the right type of game to appear on Game Pass: Created by small indiestudio, original idea with jolly fun gameplay and a possibility to complete in couple of hours. It nowadays rarely happens that I complete a game 100 % but this time just couldn't stop before that, and I totally enjoyed every second!

While Minishoot’ Adventures is a fun, casual game to play, unfortunately, it’s not a game that I can see making a big splash. It doesn’t have much replayability to it and I won’t find myself looking to play it again soon. The adventure was interesting as I was exploring and fighting my way through the game, but I forgot about it once I stopped playing the game.
