How this score was computed
The VGC Score is a weighted blend on a press-comparable 0-100 quality scale. Steam approval rates are first calibrated (95% positive on Steam ≈ 89.5 quality, since Steam approval skews high). Press and tracked creator reviews each count ~2x a player review and share one cap against player evidence (creator buy/skip calls pool into an approval rate, calibrated like Steam approval); all-time sentiment is capped and halved (it's context, not verdict); reviews of the current build carry the most weight when a fresh patch anchors the window; and a 'typical game' prior keeps small samples from pegging the scale. Because press reviews and Metacritic user aggregates describe the launch build, their weight decays as the game ages (3-year half-life after a 1-year grace). That's how a game that launched rough can outgrow its old reception once updates win players over. Reviews under 2h playtime (the refund window), non-Steam activations, and free copies are downweighted.

“This review will likely read like I’m very negative toward Ereban: Shadow Legacy, so let me clarify: I think it’s fine. The trouble is that games that are just “fine” can be hard to talk about without coming across as being very negative. As a debut title from a new studio, Shadow Legacy is very competent in its design, and seems to derive a lot of inspiration from Aragami, even including a nice easter egg. But I also struggle to find anything exciting to talk about with it, and that may simply be because I’m not the best audience for it. Someone who hasn’t played many stealth games will probably enjoy it far more, as might an experienced sneaky bastard find its simplicity and easiness a nice change of pace.”

“Ereban Shadow Legacy it's not original at all, but it's yet another demonstration that a game can be entertaining even without innovating. The indie nature of the project is evident, especially on the technical front, but if you can overlook the graphics, you'll see that behind it lies an honest gaming experience, capable of entertaining with simplicity.”

“Ereban Shadow Legacy ambitiously attempts to juggle multiple elements and succeeds in most areas, yet it is ultimately hindered by its lack of refinement. With its prominent features, it leans more toward a 3D platformer rather than a game rooted in the Stealth genre. Nonetheless, its emphasis on level design and a variety of unique gameplay mechanics, despite a lackluster plot, renders it an enjoyable experience.”

“Ereban: Shadow Legacy is a fun and well-crafted stealth game that would eventually draw non-stealth game enthusiasts. It’s not even that tactical and breakdowns between stealth sections give a breather to the player, making it a narrative action game rather than a serious stealth game where you have to save a president or something. Sure, some bugs did occur during my gameplay, such as falling through the map geometry or watching Ayana getting clipped while crouching on stairs.”

“Ereban: Shadow Legacy breathes new life into the stealth genre, filling a void left by the absence of more substantial titles. Its remarkably simple yet effective stealth mechanics will draw you into its addictive gameplay.”

“Ereban: Shadow Legacy is a better 3D platformer than it is a stealth game.”

“Ereban: Shadow Legacy is a solid adventure that allows every tool at its disposal to be used well and by a team that is clearly passionate about what they do. It doesn’t always land, but I still found it engaging, enjoyable, and very entertaining.”

“Ereban: Shadow Legacy is a game that tries to do a lot, but is only at its best in being a great game to play. While having a story component that feels mostly unnecessary to the experience and is not going to be what I recommend buying the game for. The shadow form mechanic is so interwoven into the entire game, from the enemies to the gadgets, and upgrades in-between. With so many awesome open area levels and expertly designed closed-in ones, I loved my experience in Ereban: Shadow Legacy. I just wish there was less noise, and more allowing me to just slither around and enjoy its gameplay endlessly.”

“Ereban: Shadow Legacy is a creative and well-designed genre-mix game that only has some minor flaws in the polish. Specifically, there are some shadow interactions that the developers evidently did not consider, which can lead to erroneous behavior, whether glitching through walls or sliding along geometry that has little to do with the represented geometry. These rare errors only marginally affect the gaming experience.”

“Ereban: Shadow Legacy is an excellent story wrapped in a clever platforming stealth game. Fans of the stealth genre or those just looking for a great story are sure to enjoy melding into the shadows and parkouring their way through this wonderfully put-together and presented world.”

“More interesting abilities and skill trees that don't boil down to just controlling enemy movements or taking them out from a distance would go a long way, maybe the ability to create shadows to cross gaps or manipulate light, which could be used for combat and exploration.”
