How this score was computed
The VGC Score is a weighted blend on a press-comparable 0-100 quality scale. Steam approval rates are first calibrated (95% positive on Steam ≈ 89.5 quality, since Steam approval skews high). Press and tracked creator reviews each count ~2x a player review and share one cap against player evidence (creator buy/skip calls pool into an approval rate, calibrated like Steam approval); all-time sentiment is capped and halved (it's context, not verdict); reviews of the current build carry the most weight when a fresh patch anchors the window; and a 'typical game' prior keeps small samples from pegging the scale. Because press reviews and Metacritic user aggregates describe the launch build, their weight decays as the game ages (3-year half-life after a 1-year grace). That's how a game that launched rough can outgrow its old reception once updates win players over. Reviews under 2h playtime (the refund window), non-Steam activations, and free copies are downweighted.

“The Entropy Centre, although clearly inspired by Portal, does a pretty good job standing on its own. The puzzles are good, the level design is even better, and the overall aesthetic is solid.”

“The Entropy Centre looks very similar to Portal. There are identical items and environments, but the time-rewinding mechanic is so unique and well-handled that you'll enjoy solving each room. The story may not be strong enough to carry you through the entire game, but luckily, when combined with the humor, you'll get a very original experience.”

“The Entropy Centre definitely will bring you some Portal vibes. And it also has some distinctive pieces of its own to offer.”

“I think a lot of people who really enjoy puzzle games will get a lot from The Entropy Center. It might be a bit darker and tonally dark compared to other similar titles out there, but it does deliver a rather enjoyable and rewarding experience.”

“The Entropy Centre is far and away one of the best first-person puzzlers you can play. If the genre does anything for you, you should come away satisfied with what the game has in store.”

“Visually, The Entropy Centre can be a bit hit-and-miss. A lot has clearly been put into the visual aspect, but it does often feel like assets are reused over and over. As such, the inside of the facility can often feel a bit stale and samey. The same cannot be said for the outside of the facility, though, where outer space looks incredible and almost picture-perfect.”

“The Entropy Centre is a masterclass in intuitive, creative and exciting game design. From the first puzzle to the last you’ll be staggered by the imagination on display, and as you rebuild the world around you you’ll have a few chuckles along the way, too. A truly excellent first-person puzzle that deserves to be played by absolutely everyon”

“If you like games in Portal puzzle style, definitely do not miss The Entrophy Centre. You get a time weapon and start solving rooms in the research center. The plot could have been more fleshed out, but otherwise it's a very pleasant experience.”

“Even considering these minor hiccups, I cannot deny that I had a wonderful time with The Entropy Centre. Stubby Games’ puzzler manages to not only fill its influence’s shoes, but do something all its own at the same time. That is an achievement worth celebrating: a better tomorrow indeed.”

“The Entropy Center is an excellent puzzle game that's as much its own thing as it is an homage to the classics, and is easily one of the most pleasant surprises of 2022.”

“The Entropy Centre doesn’t dwell too much on the story, though. While the slow reveal of what’s going on is delivered well and the growing friendship between Aria and Astra works and is fun to watch, it’s much more focused on being a great puzzle game first and foremost, which it is unequivocally a success at. The Entropy Centre‘s light use of time manipulation serves as the basis for some clever and satisfying puzzles, easily putting it among some of the best of the genre.”

“The Entropy Center is truly an excellent puzzle game, with intelligent ideas, which mix to offer more than good gameplay accompanied by a narrative that is pleasant to discover.”
