How this score was computed
The VGC Score is a weighted blend on a press-comparable 0-100 quality scale. Steam approval rates are first calibrated (95% positive on Steam ≈ 89.5 quality, since Steam approval skews high). Press and tracked creator reviews each count ~2x a player review and share one cap against player evidence (creator buy/skip calls pool into an approval rate, calibrated like Steam approval); all-time sentiment is capped and halved (it's context, not verdict); reviews of the current build carry the most weight when a fresh patch anchors the window; and a 'typical game' prior keeps small samples from pegging the scale. Because press reviews and Metacritic user aggregates describe the launch build, their weight decays as the game ages (3-year half-life after a 1-year grace). That's how a game that launched rough can outgrow its old reception once updates win players over. Reviews under 2h playtime (the refund window), non-Steam activations, and free copies are downweighted.

“It’s Hades, if Hades had four players, corrupted Arthurian lore, and a dark comic book soul. Early Access rarely feels this confident. Co-op roguelike fans, your quest has arrived.”

“SWORN is an action roguelike that deserves your attention if you love the genre and are fascinated by dark reinterpretations of classic legends. Done well, it takes references here and there but still retains an identity of its own. There are some technical imperfections due to its early access status but it still offers an interesting experience thanks to dynamic gameplay, unique aesthetics and narrative depth. If you like games like Hades, Dead Cells and the graphical style of Darkest Dungeon, you'll find SWORN an enjoyable and entertaining co-operative experience. The potential is all there: now it just remains to be seen how the developers will continue to improve it in the coming months.”

“Sworn won’t dethrone the giants of the roguelite space, but it’s a strong, enjoyable entry with a clear identity. If you love games built around progression, combat experimentation, and dark fantasy settings, this one is worth your time; especially if you have a few friends ready to dive into Camelot’s ruins with you.”

“Whilst offering bombastic fun in online multiplayer, this Hades-like roguelite is oddly muted in single-player, an issue likely exacerbated due to the developer failing in making the most of the game's iconic mythological setting. A decently reliable experience then, but one so similar to so many other roguelites you'd have sworn you had already played Sworn before.”

“SWORN is excellent for those looking for something else to try out that is extremely similar to Hades, and want to try out playing Hades in co-op with their friends. It has a lot to offer, and I believe it is fun enough to overlook the bad taste that may be left due to its blatant plagiarism.”

“Sworn is an incredibly fun action Roguelite to jump into, especially if you have friends to play with. While it certainly isn't perfect, there's enough here to at least give it a shot. Sworn in its best moments is a game that engages you on several levels and forces you to make difficult decisions while rewarding your hard work. In its worst moments, it's a bit of a slog that will have you questioning your strategy and build. If you like Arthurian legend and thoroughly enjoy Roguelite action with meta-progression, you'll find yourself very pleased with your time in Sworn.”

“Sworn is an excellent action roguelike, artistically inspired and with a fairly extensive content for the genre. While it doesn't revolutionize the industry or offer features that would make it unique in a rather vast landscape, Windwalk Games and Team 17's product is certainly more than capable, sold at a very accessible price (in fact, it's available on Game Pass for Xbox owners). Further enhancing this respectable gaming package is the well-implemented and fun co-op mode.”

“Sworn is clearly made as an alternative to Hades and other similar roguelike games. The game has a lot of heart, and everything from the overall progression to the combat and story is well-made. The addition of coop is the icing on the cake. I don’t think that everything lands perfectly and there are definitely things to improve, but for someone who loves loop-based gameplay that’s typical to roguelikes, this title is worth picking up. Granted, it does have its issues, with the story being rather simple and short, and the combat being slower at times. But if you get past that, you will notice that the game is greatly-made, it has way more content than expected, and the gameplay itself is fun. The ability combinations, great visual style and game mechanics make it a worthwhile time investment. Plus, the fact that you can test your skills with some really high difficulty levels and bosses make it very enticing to try and play one more run.”

“Sworn is a Hades-like game that's aware of its limitations. It's entertaining for hours thanks to its four selectable characters, but the maps are repetitive and the initial difficulty curve is truly inaccessible.”
