How this score was computed

The VGC Score is a weighted blend on a press-comparable 0-100 quality scale. Steam approval rates are first calibrated (95% positive on Steam ≈ 89.5 quality, since Steam approval skews high). Press and tracked creator reviews each count ~2x a player review and share one cap against player evidence (creator buy/skip calls pool into an approval rate, calibrated like Steam approval); all-time sentiment is capped and halved (it's context, not verdict); reviews of the current build carry the most weight when a fresh patch anchors the window; and a 'typical game' prior keeps small samples from pegging the scale. Because press reviews and Metacritic user aggregates describe the launch build, their weight decays as the game ages (3-year half-life after a 1-year grace). That's how a game that launched rough can outgrow its old reception once updates win players over. Reviews under 2h playtime (the refund window), non-Steam activations, and free copies are downweighted.

Acclaim gate: the raw blend lands at 89.1, but scores above 88 must be earned in front of a mass audience; this verdict rests on 2,567 player reviews, a largely self-selected fanbase. As more players weigh in, the ceiling rises (full scale unlocks at 100,000 reviews).

It's impressive just how AstralShift has managed to weave together all of these different parts so effectively in Little Goody Two Shoes. The atmosphere is unmatched and the story is genuinely intriguing, with Elise making a great protagonist who, despite appearing selfish and bratty, just wants a better life for herself and whoever she falls in love with. We're so close to being in love with this game, but a few frustrations just hold this game back from having a fairy-tale ending for us. Still, for the unique ideas alone, we'd recommend checking this out.

At its core, Little Goody Two Shoes is a survival/management game that incorporates dating sim elements and Wario Ware-style micro-games. The micro-games can be obnoxious at times and the story won't be everyone's cup of tea considering the target audience this game caters to, but it is hard to not be swept up in the artistry poured into the presentation.

With a compelling, troubling, and disturbing story and art style, Little Goody Two Shoes is a must for anyone that is familiar with or new to the genre - in this case, a multitude of genres. Creepy, beautiful, dramatic, and memorable.

Little Goody Two Shoes is a special game. The animation is reminiscent of the animated films of my youth. There's a retro grain to the image, with transitions from the 4:3 ratio to today's 16:9. Some scenes are reminiscent of the classics, like Dorothée (The Wizard of Oz) when Élise kicks off her red shoes, or Little Red Riding Hood, just because of the way she dresses and lives in a forest.

Little Goody Two Shoes’ themes of always wanting more than what you have hit particularly close to home. Elise’s desires are always surrounding you, and always just out of arm’s reach. The developers of this game took great care into shaping this beautiful world to fit with Elise’s characterization. This game is simply oozing with charm. You can feel the love and dedication that went into creating this game at every moment, in every aspect, from the artwork to the story to the sound design.

Little Goody Two Shoes works well because it incorporates many different elements while still being engaging. The humor contrasts well with the horror, as do the visual novel dating elements when combined with the survival, horror, and puzzling-solving sections. The story is both horrifying and entertaining, making it a perfect fit for those who favor moody unease instead of gore. Genre fans looking for something wildly different from other entries in the genre or who want something subversive would really enjoy Little Goody Two Shoes.

Little Goody Two Shoes is a very cute RPG that holds quite a lot of secrets, and it will undoubtedly be worth your time to check out. It is uncommon to see a blend of different approach styles, but once in a blue moon, it appears and drops a unique experience. This title is undoubtedly one of them, and if you are looking for a JRPG that will invest your time in, I would say look no further than Little Goody Two Shoes.

A highly inventive mix of genres that you'd normally think completely incompatible, but the end result is creepy, charming, and wonderfully unpredictable.

Barring one annoying control issue I ran into on Steam Deck, Little Goody Two Shoes is a superb experience, and really timed perfectly given the season. The trailer and screenshots make it look great, but it really is on a whole other level in person on a good display. Not only does it have great art, voice acting, and music, but it also feels like the best modern take on an older-style horror adventure game. This is a game that deserves your time even in this busy release season.

Overall, Little Goody Two Shoes is a lot of fun, but may not be what you’re looking for if you’re on the hunt for a more traditional horror experience lending more to a slow-burn style of game with a lot of different elements tossed into the mix, from resource management to quests, and mini-games. It's a little unfocused, and while that works for its unique visual stylings, I found myself wishing for more horror than the constant diversions it offered.
