How this score was computed
The VGC Score is a weighted blend on a press-comparable 0-100 quality scale. Steam approval rates are first calibrated (95% positive on Steam ≈ 89.5 quality, since Steam approval skews high). Press and tracked creator reviews each count ~2x a player review and share one cap against player evidence (creator buy/skip calls pool into an approval rate, calibrated like Steam approval); all-time sentiment is capped and halved (it's context, not verdict); reviews of the current build carry the most weight when a fresh patch anchors the window; and a 'typical game' prior keeps small samples from pegging the scale. Because press reviews and Metacritic user aggregates describe the launch build, their weight decays as the game ages (3-year half-life after a 1-year grace). That's how a game that launched rough can outgrow its old reception once updates win players over. Reviews under 2h playtime (the refund window), non-Steam activations, and free copies are downweighted.

“FromSoftware has once again delivered and fulfilled my silent dreams. Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon is a brilliant game, and that's that. It's very addictive, extremely attractive, and, simply, worth recommending. Get into the cockpit and fight for freedom”

“Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon is a great robot editor that allows all mech enthusiasts to create the fighting machine of their dreams, but a very down-to-earth game with short linear missions, boring environments and weak standard enemies”

“Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon is a title that is unlikely to make it into the mainstream despite its efforts. It's headed in the right direction, yet it's particular with an exciting theme that will only appeal to certain players. Those that do, however, are in for an incredible audiovisual spectacle with great gameplay. As well as, for the first time in a long time, a simply excellent mech game. It's just a shame about the uninteresting story because, in other respects, it's an amazing and robust package.”

“A spectacular game with large combat machines, if eye-catching action scenes are more important to you than the story, Armored Core VI will give you a few unforgettable gameplay sessions.”

“Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon is both perfect and not. I don't think it's the best thing FromSoftware has created in the last decade, and yet I feel that one of the studio's greatest achievements was to go for it. I don't consider it the best game of 2023 either, but at the same time I feel it's the GOTY. The sixth installment of this mythical saga is more Armored Core than I expected.”

“FromSoftware games are an event and this one is no exception. Great fun, chaotic until tamed and thoroughly moreish. You'll find a lot to like if you're into high-quality action.”

“Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon effectively revives a franchise many of us thought dead, and it does so with incredible spectacle at that.”

“I had a fantastic time with Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon. The gameplay is genuinely addictive, and the storyline is structured in such a way that after each mission I immediately wanted to launch the next one to see what interesting the next stage holds. The "one more mission" syndrome works so strongly that the game gets stronger with each hour spent with it, so I had a serious problem to put the pad down. The fun has been looped in a way that works perfectly, and if you like a non-stop flow of fast-paced action, you should be delighted with the new creation from FromSoftware. There is no shortage of moments from which adrenaline almost buzzes in the veins.”

“Flying through the skies of Rubicon and immersing myself in the fantasy of piloting a giant, all-powerful mech that I created was a thrilling adventure.”

“When I think back on my time with Armored Core VI, I can’t help but think about my fondness for the voices over the radio. The way Rusty was so cool when he showed up to help bail my ass out. Or the progression of Carla calling me a tourist. Then all the arguments and shared triumphs with real world friends over which bosses were too hard and which weapons were too cheesy. The way we share this game with one another. From Software manages to make connections in small, delicate internal ways, and also big messy explosive ones that I don’t think they can possibly plan for.”

“Armored Core VI Fires of Rubicon is another amazing game by From Software that makes controlling these mechs a treat, especially in combat where there's countless options on offer, making the replay value really high although I wish there was more incentive to explore the different areas we come across.”

“This game is the next big step in FromSoftware’s development journey honouring where they have come from and what they’ve learned since the last Armored Core game, containing a lot of the FromSoftware DNA when it comes to enemy and level design but is definitely a very different beast to the Souls games and Elden Ring.”
