How this score was computed
The VGC Score is a weighted blend on a press-comparable 0-100 quality scale. Steam approval rates are first calibrated (95% positive on Steam ≈ 89.5 quality, since Steam approval skews high). Press and tracked creator reviews each count ~2x a player review and share one cap against player evidence (creator buy/skip calls pool into an approval rate, calibrated like Steam approval); all-time sentiment is capped and halved (it's context, not verdict); reviews of the current build carry the most weight when a fresh patch anchors the window; and a 'typical game' prior keeps small samples from pegging the scale. Because press reviews and Metacritic user aggregates describe the launch build, their weight decays as the game ages (3-year half-life after a 1-year grace). That's how a game that launched rough can outgrow its old reception once updates win players over. Reviews under 2h playtime (the refund window), non-Steam activations, and free copies are downweighted.
| Component | Positive | Quality (0-100) | Weight (pseudo-reviews) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Press reviews (OpenCritic) | – | 82 | 12 |
| All-time Steam reviews | 98% | 93 | 1000 |
| Metacritic user ratings | – | – | 0 |
| Post-patch Steam reviews (trust-weighted) | 98% | 94 | 184 |
| Calibration prior (typical game) | – | 72 | 50 |
Acclaim gate: the raw blend lands at 92.5, but scores above 88 must be earned in front of a mass audience; this verdict rests on 16,639 player reviews, a largely self-selected fanbase. As more players weigh in, the ceiling rises (full scale unlocks at 100,000 reviews).

“If you need something to boost your productivity or just want something to bring that homey vibe into work sessions, Spirit City: Lofi Sessions is well worth trying.”

“Spirit City: Lofi Sessions is a pleasant companion tool for increasing your productivity and fostering a more mindful space to focus. It’s not really a video game in the traditional sense, thanks to the lack of interactivity and gameplay. However, it has a wonderful set of relaxing tracks and a charming aesthetic that makes it a welcoming, peaceful addition to your day-to-day routine, even if it’s not a gaming essential.”

“Spirit City: Lofi Sessions is a lovely interactive productivity tool that radiates positive, relaxing vibes. With cute spirits and customisations, getting work done has never been so cosy.”

“All in all, I love all that Spirit City: Lofi Sessions represents. It gives you a quiet, aesthetic space to stay focused on your work and track your goals and feelings. I appreciated the interactive twist on productivity tools by giving you options for personalization and a challenge to collect all the Spirits. My only downside is, I want more. More background options, more soundscapes to choose from, and more activities to do with the Spirits. If the developers add more content like this, I think Spirit City: Lofi Sessions could be a 10/10 experience that I would use on a daily basis. Either way, I would recommend it to anyone who’s looking for a cozy productivity tool, Lofi music hub, and collection game all in one.”

“Since discovering productivity apps, I’ve spent quite a while testing some of them. My daily app is Virtual Cottage, but now, with Spirit City: Lofi Sessions, a worthy opponent has arrived. Between its cozy esthetics, the potential for more customizations, and the integration of other YouTube playlists, I can spend time with Spirit City: Lofi Sessions.”

“There could perhaps be a few more features when it comes to organizing one's life, though for something like this a certain amount of simplicity makes sense. It's much more of a tool than an outright game, meaning players looking for active involvement won't find much of it here, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. With cute spirits, impeccable vibes, and a lovely soundtrack reminiscent of games like Coffee Talk, Spirit City: Lofi Sessions is a great choice for anyone looking for a more relaxed, adorable way to tackle tasks each day. ”

“Overall, after spending around two weeks with Spirit City: Lofi Sessions, I’m confident that I’ll continue playing the game even after this review is published. It has a charming aesthetic, the various companion spirits are adorable, and the available productivity tools have proven useful to me while working from home. The development team at Mooncube Games are also clearly dedicated to implementing user suggestions and feedback where possible, which is great to see. I hope that, in the future, we’ll see additional spirits, activity options and decorations added to the game. In the meantime, I’ll be enjoying the magical aesthetic, listening to the chill Lofi beats, admiring my Moonpaw companion spirit, and, hopefully, maintaining my productivity.”

“Being able to watch my character nestled in a beanbag by a crackling fire, the static softly hissing from a vinyl spinning in the background while they knit is *chef’s kiss*. That will always be a winning combination for my cosy-at-heart soul. The life that’s depicted in Spirit City: Lofi Sessions is the one I want, and right now, the game is the only way I can (momentarily) realise that wish.”

“Spirit City: Lofi Sessions shows how games can go beyond escapism or entertainment. They possess significant potential to enhance mental health and improve quality of life but are underutilized within this medium.”

“Spirit City: Lofi Sessions is a game that can be easily integrated into everyday life. The game can help you to work in a more structured and productive way without forgetting to take the necessary breaks. It's cute, fun and offers a variety of different music and sounds and if that's not enough, you can even integrate YouTube.”

“Spirit City: Lofi Sessions has greatly surprised me with what it is. It lacks depth, but what's here is very good for what the game aims to be and could be close to, if not, perfection with some tweaking. For students like myself, it's an easy recommend.”
