How this score was computed
The VGC Score is a weighted blend on a press-comparable 0-100 quality scale. Steam approval rates are first calibrated (95% positive on Steam ≈ 89.5 quality, since Steam approval skews high). Press and tracked creator reviews each count ~2x a player review and share one cap against player evidence (creator buy/skip calls pool into an approval rate, calibrated like Steam approval); all-time sentiment is capped and halved (it's context, not verdict); reviews of the current build carry the most weight when a fresh patch anchors the window; and a 'typical game' prior keeps small samples from pegging the scale. Because press reviews and Metacritic user aggregates describe the launch build, their weight decays as the game ages (3-year half-life after a 1-year grace). That's how a game that launched rough can outgrow its old reception once updates win players over. Reviews under 2h playtime (the refund window), non-Steam activations, and free copies are downweighted.

| Metacritic user ratings | – | – | 0 |
| Post-patch Steam reviews (trust-weighted) | 100% | 97 | 1 |

“Death Trick: Double Blind, while imperfect, is colorful and engaging. Perhaps it’s just like a real day out at the circus, you see some cool tricks, but then you eat too many sweets and you get overwhelmed by the crowds. Yet, at the end of the night, you’re still delighted by what you’ve seen, and you know you’ll remember it. Death Trick: Double Blind won’t be a game everyone enjoys, but it certainly will have its audience. I imagine there will be a lot of fan art. I hope those people, romantics, thinkers, dreamers, find Death Trick: Double Blind and enjoy the ride.”

“Death Trick: Double Blind was a surprise in more ways than one. It tells a surprisingly warm murder mystery, is carried by some genuinely shocking twists, and successfully implements tension into a formula that games in the genre rarely manage to do in a satisfactory way.”

“Death Trick: Double Blind really did keep me in suspense, and I was impatient to figure out who did it in this mystery storyline. But like I said, this is definitely what you want in a mystery visual novel; the sense of guessing and well-woven narrative that keeps you in suspense! You feel completely involved, and makes you feel like an ace detective even for a second. In all honestly, I still can't find anything jarringly negative to say about this visual novel because I genuinely enjoyed every lovingly written & designed part of it.”

“Though it leans more into feeling like a visual novel than a game, the characters and dialogue make it worthwhile”

“Despite its surprisingly sweet story and colorful cast, the game felt artificially long due to its easy mystery and lack of a skip function.”

“Death Trick: Double Blind is a point-and-click story full of twists, turns, and compelling characters. I came for the circus, but I stayed for the references to Ace Attorney and Sherlock Holmes.”

“Death Trick: Double Blind presents an engaging mystery and puts us in the shoes of two protagonists in curious situations as we try to discover the culprit among intriguing suspects. However, it is important to note that the title may require some patience from the player due to performance issues on the Switch. For this reason, it may be more advisable to try this great game on another platform where it is available.”

“Death Trick: Double Blind is a criminal investigation adventure that attracts attention with its well-written plot and strategic gameplay challenge. When reaching the end, it is possible to notice all the quality of what has been built up to that point, but the game may not be so suitable for those who want a casual investigation experience, as errors in the search for the truth can generate a frustrating snowball .”

“Death Trick: Double Blind has a solid setting and a strong premise but doesn’t shine when it comes to mechanics. Players have to read quite a bit and then be ready to re-read statements and descriptions to spot inconsistencies and develop theories about the murder. The game’s writing is mostly up to the task but there are some repetitive moments and extra flowery lines.”
