How this score was computed
The VGC Score is a weighted blend on a press-comparable 0-100 quality scale. Steam approval rates are first calibrated (95% positive on Steam ≈ 89.5 quality, since Steam approval skews high). Press and tracked creator reviews each count ~2x a player review and share one cap against player evidence (creator buy/skip calls pool into an approval rate, calibrated like Steam approval); all-time sentiment is capped and halved (it's context, not verdict); reviews of the current build carry the most weight when a fresh patch anchors the window; and a 'typical game' prior keeps small samples from pegging the scale. Because press reviews and Metacritic user aggregates describe the launch build, their weight decays as the game ages (3-year half-life after a 1-year grace). That's how a game that launched rough can outgrow its old reception once updates win players over. Reviews under 2h playtime (the refund window), non-Steam activations, and free copies are downweighted.
| Component | Positive | Quality (0-100) | Weight (pseudo-reviews) |

| Metacritic user ratings | – | – | 0 |
| Post-patch Steam reviews (trust-weighted) | 91% | 85 | 299 |

“Capcom Fighting Collection 2 brings an incredibly strong roster of classic arcade fighters to Nintendo Switch in one of the best compendiums of its work to date. This is top-notch fare, a slew of incredible games, some appearing for the first time since their original releases, replete with rollback netcode for online play, tons of unlockables, Japanese versions of all eight titles, and modern training modes to catch you up to speed. With both Power Stones, an unbeatable Capcom vs SNK double bill and Project Justice leading the charge, there's really very little to complain about here. Excellent stuff.”

“While some of the fighters in this collection could be hit or miss based on personal tastes, the inclusion of Power Stone and its sequel absolutely make this a winner”

“Outside of a few complaints such as overlooked titles, a lack of crossplay, and this collection only encompassing the arcade editions, this is once again a meaty package of fighting games. The appeal will be in the Capcom vs. SNK duo, but by adding in a few deep cuts, it ensures other gems get their chance to shine.”

“Yet another timely reminder that Capcom has been the king of its craft for decades now, Capcom Fighting Collection 2 superbly digs into the Dreamcast era of the Japanese publisher's iconic output. While its commitment to arcade conversions means you're missing some of the single player modes from the various included titles' home console ports, there's simply so much quality content on offer here that it's hard to complain, with the likes of Capcom vs. SNK 2 and Street Fighter Alpha 3 Upper having legitimate claims at being some of the greatest fighters ever made.”

“Capcom Fighting Collection 2 is a must-have for fighting game fans and for new players curious to experience these retro games for the first time. Its biggest flaw is that it feels too similar to previous collections and does little to elevate this kind of release to the next level. And although the lack of extra modes, cross-play, and other features prevents it from being the definitive collection, its historical importance and value are undeniable. A trip to the past well worth taking.”

“Capcom Fighting Collection 2 brings the definitive versions of some of the most important games of all time, preserving the legacy of the late golden age of arcades while adding a modern touch with features like online matches using rollback netcode. This allows longtime fans to relive fond memories and gives new players a chance to discover the roots of the genre. Capcom Fighting Collection 2 goes far beyond from being just a collection, it's a masterclass in how to preserve classic games and present them to a new generation of fighting game enthusiasts.”
