How this score was computed

The VGC Score is a weighted blend on a press-comparable 0-100 quality scale. Steam approval rates are first calibrated (95% positive on Steam ≈ 89.5 quality, since Steam approval skews high). Press and tracked creator reviews each count ~2x a player review and share one cap against player evidence (creator buy/skip calls pool into an approval rate, calibrated like Steam approval); all-time sentiment is capped and halved (it's context, not verdict); reviews of the current build carry the most weight when a fresh patch anchors the window; and a 'typical game' prior keeps small samples from pegging the scale. Because press reviews and Metacritic user aggregates describe the launch build, their weight decays as the game ages (3-year half-life after a 1-year grace). That's how a game that launched rough can outgrow its old reception once updates win players over. Reviews under 2h playtime (the refund window), non-Steam activations, and free copies are downweighted.

It's aesthetically crisp and ninja-smooth, but the game all but vanishes from one's mind even while playing it.

What this all amounts to is a brilliant little tactics game, right up there with Into the Breach and XCOM, if not even better. The bite-sized structure belies a deceptively complex and meaningful game, where all your decisions ultimately mean something significant for that final desperate attack. If you enjoy stealth or tactics games, or you're simply looking for a way into either genre, then Invisible, Inc. deserves your attention.

Invisible Inc. is based on strategy and long-term planning. Surviving the next turn is all that matters - the player's actions are rewarded with great satisfaction. The game suffers from a small variety of levels and mission types but it still shows that Klei Entertainment is at the top of their game among independent developers.

Invisible, Inc. is a tense squad-based strategy game, simultaneously honouring and reinventing the genre with neat twists and smart design. While the main campaign is short, it's rich enough to want to play again straight way, focusing on different types of missions, going after different upgrades, or trying to free new people to join the team. The only thing lacking, perhaps, is a multiplayer mode, which could have been a fun inclusion. Overall, this is a must-play game for TBS fans, or those that feel like they might enjoy a smartly made game of hacking and heists.

In a genre that's traditionally concerned more with open combat, Invisible, Inc.'s stealth focus is a revelation. Chock full of smart game design, you're gifted plenty of options in how you approach your mission, and despite having so many tools at your disposal, it remains satisfyingly challenging, without ever crossing over into being unfair. While the roguelike progression could potentially be a downside for some, the high level of customisation around the difficulty settings will swiftly rob you of this complaint. Simply put, if you have even a passing interest in turn-based strategy games, you shouldn't let this exceptional title sneak under your radar.

Invisible, Inc. is a brilliant game. The developers crafted a novel turn-based strategy/stealth game hybrid with a lot of attention to detail, extremely addicting gameplay and an abundance of class on the technical side. If you are a fan of either turn-based or stealth games, or just a fan of good games in general, you really can't go wrong with Invisible, Inc.

Eschewing direct combat for a nearly purely stealth focus helps simplify without dumbing down the essential structure of what makes this genre great, and the efficiency that it demands for success is challenging but rewarding in ways that make me want to replay it over and over until I’ve scraped all the meat off the bone.

Invisible, Inc.: Console Edition is tough. Porting quirks aside, the missions can be quite difficult if you're careless in your strategy, and the randomization means that using brute force to make your way through the title isn't feasible even at the lowest difficulty level. That difficulty is also what makes the game fun, and a more defensive approach to turn-based strategy makes things interesting. The title has a very solid presentation and promises longevity due to randomization, so strategy fans will undoubtedly enjoy Invisible Inc.

And once the final mission's done there's a scamper up the difficulty levels, alongside endless, custom and time attack modes, the latter of which works a bit like speed chess, but with people getting whacked over the head. In truth, while pleasant, this is a covering of the bases that Invisible, Inc doesn't really need. Much like the lives of one of its secret agents, this is a game defined by short, sharp thrills. It's so filled with purpose that is has no need to outstay its welcome.

This game's turn-based stealth mechanics are perfect in every way, unforgiving and challenging. However, it's sad to see a game almost nailing it due to the roguelike campaign, which feels lazy and incomplete.
