How this score was computed
The VGC Score is a weighted blend on a press-comparable 0-100 quality scale. Steam approval rates are first calibrated (95% positive on Steam ≈ 89.5 quality, since Steam approval skews high). Press and tracked creator reviews each count ~2x a player review and share one cap against player evidence (creator buy/skip calls pool into an approval rate, calibrated like Steam approval); all-time sentiment is capped and halved (it's context, not verdict); reviews of the current build carry the most weight when a fresh patch anchors the window; and a 'typical game' prior keeps small samples from pegging the scale. Because press reviews and Metacritic user aggregates describe the launch build, their weight decays as the game ages (3-year half-life after a 1-year grace). That's how a game that launched rough can outgrow its old reception once updates win players over. Reviews under 2h playtime (the refund window), non-Steam activations, and free copies are downweighted.
| Component | Positive | Quality (0-100) | Weight (pseudo-reviews) |

| All-time Steam reviews | 91% | 85 | 1000 |
| Metacritic user ratings | – | 76 | 41 |
| Post-patch Steam reviews (trust-weighted) | 92% | 86 | 27 |

“Ultimately, I think that Citizen Sleeper 2 is a slightly better game than the first with equally incredible writing. Unfortunately, it also feels a bit like the difference between The Next Generation and Deep Space Nine, but in reverse. By locking you into one location, the first game forced you to learn about and fall in love with that place and the people who lived there. In Citizen Sleeper 2 I love the crew that travels through the belt with me, but I’m finding I connect with the locations I visit and their inhabitants way, way less.”

“Citizen Sleeper 2: Starward Vector iterates on everything its predecessor accomplished, maintaining the same heart while adding new challenges. It will delight anyone who played the first, and also serves as an exciting entry point for anyone new to the interactive novel genre. While the “good” path here is more obvious than the original, I already look forward to playing it again and making different choices this time around. After all, the sky’s the limit.”

“Citizen Sleeper 2 builds on a strong story, well-written characters and a unique dice mechanic that delivers tension and strategy. The open world and deep themes give the game an unforgettable atmosphere. If you like text-based RPGs with an emphasis on decision-making and survival in an inhospitable universe, this game will suck you in.”

“More than its predecessor, Starward Vector is concerned with the relationship between the human soul (as one character warmly and plainly puts it) and its body, even and especially when that body doesn’t look or function how it’s expected to. More broadly, it’s about being a misfit in a world filled with other misfits and figuring out how to work together anyway.”

It combines sophisticated RPG mechanics with dice-driven tactical gameplay and emphasizes player choices. With an improved system and an expanded, vibrant Star Belt world, the game offers a rich experience full of intrigue, crew-building, and risky missions. Its unique aesthetic and narrative depth make it a must-have for fans of the original as well as newcomers seeking a unique and immersive space adventure with tabletop game elements. Expect a masterpiece with exceptional art and music.”

“Citizen Sleeper 2 is an excellent example of a polished sequel, continuing all the things that made its predecessor a beloved indie darling while building upon and expanding those systems with some new and interesting ideas of its own. The decision-driven narrative, tense RPG systems, and incredible soundtrack all come together to make for a game that is almost impossible to put down once you get pulled in. Newcomers who want to see what all the fuss is about will enjoy this as much as players who loved the first game - Citizen Sleeper 2 stands tall as a worthy follow-up.”

“Citizen Sleeper 2: Starward Vector is a fantastic sequel that expands upon its core concepts and gameplay mechanics while delivering an even more emotional and thrilling story. A true masterpiece and yet another GOTY contender from the talented team at Jump Over The Age.”

“Citizen Sleeper 2 is a timely story about hope in the face of collapse and how the inevitability of endings can’t negate nobility, sacrifice, or human connections. Although it doesn’t offer as much narrative freedom as suggested by its expansive maps, the strength and depth of its stories more than recommend a play.”

“Citizen Sleeper 2: Starward Vector proves to be a worthy successor to the first chapter, managing to expand and improve on the original formula without distorting its essence. The narrative is still its strong point, with excellent, engaging writing that leads the player to ponder the Sleeper's fate. The introduction of new game mechanics adds further strategic depth to the experience, making every decision even more important. However, some elements of the gameplay are poorly balanced and the lack of Italian is a blow to those who are not fluent in English. Despite some flaws, the title proves to be a deep and engaging experience, offering hours of gameplay full of tension and meaningful choices. In short, for those who loved the first chapter and for fans of narrative RPGs, this is undoubtedly a title to be recovered.”

“Citizen Sleeper 2: Starward Vector fleshes out its predecessor’s RPG systems, develops a convincing cast of characters, and gives you the tools to be the space captain of your dreams, but its greatest accomplishment is how it makes you feel the full force of that quote in each fleeting moment.”

“Citizen Sleeper 2: Starward Vector's true success stems from expanding upon its mechanical and narrative foundation without overriding its potent emotional connection.”

“Citizen Sleeper 2 is phenomenal, evocative, and haunting. The minimal visuals are flawlessly supported by the writing. Gut-wrenching expressions and touchingly lonely scenes flow out of the masterful descriptions. The audio design had me rocketing from dawning dread to heart-pumping motivation. And in the end, I was forced into the hero’s dilemma in a way that cemented this game as one of the year’s best.”
