How this score was computed

The VGC Score is a weighted blend on a press-comparable 0-100 quality scale. Steam approval rates are first calibrated (95% positive on Steam ≈ 89.5 quality, since Steam approval skews high). Press and tracked creator reviews each count ~2x a player review and share one cap against player evidence (creator buy/skip calls pool into an approval rate, calibrated like Steam approval); all-time sentiment is capped and halved (it's context, not verdict); reviews of the current build carry the most weight when a fresh patch anchors the window; and a 'typical game' prior keeps small samples from pegging the scale. Because press reviews and Metacritic user aggregates describe the launch build, their weight decays as the game ages (3-year half-life after a 1-year grace). That's how a game that launched rough can outgrow its old reception once updates win players over. Reviews under 2h playtime (the refund window), non-Steam activations, and free copies are downweighted.

POPUCOM was a pleasant surprise and I highly recommend it. Perfect for those looking for a new co-op exclusive game after It Takes Two and Split Fiction. It's a cute, charismatic, enjoyable, and sometimes quite challenging experience. Solving the puzzles using all the gadgets and abilities dynamically is quite satisfying. It will certainly test friendships and the bonds of some couples, haha.

Popucom is an absolute delight and one of the best co-op games we've played in years. It stands atop the mountain alongside experiences like Split Fiction and Portal 2. With equally enjoyable battles and puzzles, an incredible aesthetic design, and an affordable price point, Hypergryph has delivered one of the surprise hits of the year.

A joyful blend of platforming, puzzle-solving, and co-op charm. Despite some uneven boss fights, POPUCOM shines with creative tools and vibrant level design. A sleeper hit in the making.

Unlike anything you've ever played before, Popucom is the inventive family fun the Switch was made for. With a unique charm and smart accessibility choices that mean everyone can join in, this third-person puzzle 'em up is going to keep our family occupied for some time to come.

POPUCOM is an engaging and innovative co-op game popping with color and fun. With its blend of different gameplay elements such as 3D platforming, puzzles, Match-3, and gunplay, it's surely an experience that will test your teamwork with your player two to the nth level. While there is no singleplayer mode as its mechanics are designed for two players or more, everything is best experienced the more the merrier.

With its color-matching mechanics and equipment-based combinations, POPUCOM delivered over a dozen hours of fresh, engaging fun. While the party mode lacks lasting appeal, that shortcoming is quickly overshadowed by the enjoyment of cooperative play. If you're a fan of co-op games, POPUCOM should easily meet your expectations for the genre.

POPUCOM is a physics-defying, family-friendly title wearing its influences on its sleeve, although it never feels derivative. Released across multiple platforms, including Steam, Epic Games Store, and PlayStation, POPUCOM delivers a co-op experience that cleverly fuses color-matching combat, tight platforming mechanics, and vibrant environmental puzzles in a package that feels fresh, nostalgic, and frantic all at once.

POPUCOM surprised me by giving a well-crafted cooperative adventure that has just enough curveballs to keep you on your toes. Anyone looking for their next co-op adventure would be hard pressed to find a better option, especially at only $20.

POPUCOM is a very engaging game, with diverse content and varied and fun puzzles. Its biggest problem, however, is the difficulty of finding people online on the Nintendo Switch, which would be helped by cross-play with the PC version.

POPUCOM is a beautiful and fun game that feels just right with the cooperative gameplay that adds to the charm of the colorful world with every turn. The first area’s puzzles teach you about what’s to come, while still adding just enough challenge to not frustrate the user early on, but prepare you for later. This was a wonderful surprise to play, and I can’t wait to spend some time with it to continue. The story is charming and cute, and the cooperative play gives me the same type of joy and puzzle-based challenge that I felt when playing the co-op mode in Portal 2. Hypergryph has a hit with this game, and I can’t wait to see what they have to come!

Popucom is an entertaining Co-op Puzzle Platformer that has a very simple and charming aesthetic. It may not be a perfect entry into the genre, but it is a fun one!
