How this score was computed
The VGC Score is a weighted blend on a press-comparable 0-100 quality scale. Steam approval rates are first calibrated (95% positive on Steam ≈ 89.5 quality, since Steam approval skews high). Press and tracked creator reviews each count ~2x a player review and share one cap against player evidence (creator buy/skip calls pool into an approval rate, calibrated like Steam approval); all-time sentiment is capped and halved (it's context, not verdict); reviews of the current build carry the most weight when a fresh patch anchors the window; and a 'typical game' prior keeps small samples from pegging the scale. Because press reviews and Metacritic user aggregates describe the launch build, their weight decays as the game ages (3-year half-life after a 1-year grace). That's how a game that launched rough can outgrow its old reception once updates win players over. Reviews under 2h playtime (the refund window), non-Steam activations, and free copies are downweighted.

“Having more content does not necessarily equal a better game, but there's no denying that Inazuma Eleven: Victory Road's massive wealth of modes, options, and gameplay variety make it feel like the franchise's most premium experience yet. Between a fun and heartfelt story mode, a second story mode that includes the highlights of all previous games, and a bunch of additional side content along with robust PvP systems for longevity, it really does feel like you could play Victory Road forever.At the end of the day, though, it all comes down to that core loop of teambuilding and playing football matches, and Victory Road's take on the series' trademark RPG-esque customisability and intuitive action on the pitch feels just as fresh and stylish as ever. Perhaps all those delays really were worth it.”

“Level-5 has translated its gameplay onto PC and consoles well, while keeping the series’ nature and enduring charm intact, as well as ensuring that fans will have plenty to keep them occupied ahead of any potential sequel. There are still plenty of areas for improvement: the non-story modes struggle to find a gameplay loop that is particularly engaging, and there are times where more of a challenge would be welcomed. However, with a solid revival to build upon, here’s hoping it’s a much shorter wait before the next entry.”

“Inazuma Eleven: Victory Road is the comeback fans have been waiting for for years, with a long but atmospheric prologue reminiscent of the new anime season and a truly enjoyable story mode in which we gradually revive the spirit of soccer. Along the way, we encounter the typical JRPG grind, repetitive mini-games, a slightly disjointed second half of the story, and a few design missteps, but the excellent match system and the clearly noticeable development of the team effectively compensate for most of the problems.”

With an absurd amount of well-made and rich content, gameplay that balances football and RPG well, and quality of life features such as Cross-play and Cross-Progression, the game is a big hit for Level-5 and certainly brings great spotlight to the company and the franchise.”

“Inazuma Eleven: Victory Road does so many things right it's easy to ignore its flaws, but they are there and could be deal breakers if you only have a passing interest in either football or the anime that inspired this game. However, give it a try and you're going to see why the IP is so popular. It's a chilled-out, if rather expensive, option for football fans looking for something different to play.”
