How this score was computed
The VGC Score is a weighted blend on a press-comparable 0-100 quality scale. Steam approval rates are first calibrated (95% positive on Steam ≈ 89.5 quality, since Steam approval skews high). Press and tracked creator reviews each count ~2x a player review and share one cap against player evidence (creator buy/skip calls pool into an approval rate, calibrated like Steam approval); all-time sentiment is capped and halved (it's context, not verdict); reviews of the current build carry the most weight when a fresh patch anchors the window; and a 'typical game' prior keeps small samples from pegging the scale. Because press reviews and Metacritic user aggregates describe the launch build, their weight decays as the game ages (3-year half-life after a 1-year grace). That's how a game that launched rough can outgrow its old reception once updates win players over. Reviews under 2h playtime (the refund window), non-Steam activations, and free copies are downweighted.
| Component | Positive | Quality (0-100) | Weight (pseudo-reviews) |

| Metacritic user ratings | – | – | 0 |
| Post-patch Steam reviews (trust-weighted) | 44% | 48 | 1661 |

“Vigor has the potential to be a decent experience on Switch and there's no doubt it's central gameplay loops of stealthily scavenging for loot whilst avoiding other players and making a successful escape can be tense and absorbing. However, as things currently stand, there are a few too many bugs and technical issues for our liking and we'd recommend players wait for the FTP version to drop later in the year when some of these issues should have been worked out.”

“Vigor is a solid shooter looter that has a clear focus, a variety of distinct maps to play on and a background goal to work towards.”

“Vigor is a really good multiplayer survival game, but it lacks content to keep player engaged after 10-20 hours.”

“Vigor had a decent idea, but it bungled the delivery in multiple ways. Base building is unforgivably dull and drawn out, while the player count is too low or the maps are too big so you can go multiple matches without encountering anyone. There is more fun to be found with the squad-based deathmatch mode, but not as much fun as you could have in countless other games in 2021.”

“Vigor is an F2P shooter from the developers of DayZ, and while it features a lot of strong ideas, it ultimately can't pull it all together.”

“Get grips for the Joy-Con joysticks. Shooters on Switch are hard at the best of times, and Vigor is no different. It plays similarly to PUBG, as discussed. Anyone who’s played PUBG, DayZ, or anything of that nature will know that accuracy is vital when involved in ranged combat. This is no different if you want to use your weapons to succeed in Vigor.”

“Vigor features fun gameplay and an interesting premise, but lacks longevity.”

“Vigor is an Xbox exclusive survival game. You need to gather resources, rebuild your home base and survuve the apocalypse. It can be considered 'DayZ mini' which focuses more on small groups on big maps and extraction instead of fighting.”

“Vigor is a looter-shooter experience that presents a strong form in its post-looting part, but when it comes to action moments, the game lacks required challenge due to its unbalanced design. Vigor will worth playing if the developer attempts to add more new content to the game.”

“Everything about Vigor just feels a bit too friendly for a post-apocalypse game! It’s not necessarily a bad thing, but it will put some people off. That being said, there are a lot of positives to take away, and for those out there looking for a new take on a BR genre that is all-too-often the same game in a new skin, Vigor is certainly worth trying out!”

“Sadly, Vigor is simply a pick up and go title, one you’ll probably play when you’re waiting on downloads to finish or simply waiting on your train, Uber, Lyft, or mode of transportation to arrive at your stopping point. Even with how intense matches can be, they’re not always guaranteed to be intense and it’s a real damn shame as the game has a lot of potential to really knock things out of the ballpark this time around.”

“Vigor is clunky and brutal. There is no satisfying single-player to fall back on, so every game session feels like a strain. It's a shame because the ideas are sound, and it could be great, but the poor mechanics torpedo any competitive urge you have going into it. Vigor's gunplay needs to improve drastically before it can start to accrue a real audience of passionate players.”
