How this score was computed
The VGC Score is a weighted blend on a press-comparable 0-100 quality scale. Steam approval rates are first calibrated (95% positive on Steam ≈ 89.5 quality, since Steam approval skews high). Press and tracked creator reviews each count ~2x a player review and share one cap against player evidence (creator buy/skip calls pool into an approval rate, calibrated like Steam approval); all-time sentiment is capped and halved (it's context, not verdict); reviews of the current build carry the most weight when a fresh patch anchors the window; and a 'typical game' prior keeps small samples from pegging the scale. Because press reviews and Metacritic user aggregates describe the launch build, their weight decays as the game ages (3-year half-life after a 1-year grace). That's how a game that launched rough can outgrow its old reception once updates win players over. Reviews under 2h playtime (the refund window), non-Steam activations, and free copies are downweighted.
| Component | Positive | Quality (0-100) | Weight (pseudo-reviews) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Press reviews (OpenCritic) | – | 80 | 170 |
| All-time Steam reviews | 69% | 66 | 1000 |
| Metacritic user ratings | – | 67 | 83 |
| Post-patch Steam reviews (trust-weighted) | 91% | 85 | 16 |
| Calibration prior (typical game) | – | 72 | 50 |

“WWE 2K25 is an excellent entry in the series and a great addition to the wrestling genre at large. It’s not merely an update, and definitely not a mere roster refresh. 2K has ensured that the formula has been revised and tweaked across the board from last year’s offering to provide a deeper experience that is a must-play if you are a WWE fan.”

“Despite capitalism rearing its ugly head, WWE 2K25, like the WWE itself, is in a stable place, a leader worth acknowledging.”

“It might not seem like it from the previous text, but WWE 2K25 itself is probably the best-made wrestling game of the last decade. Yes, it still has its flaws, and yes, some modes could use more polish, and yes, there are still microtransactions. But the combination of solid gameplay, great audio, and massive content, modes like Bloodline and MyRise, delivers an incredible chokeslam. The menu alone makes it clear that we’ve stepped onto the stage where legends are made, and now it’s your turn. For WWE fans, this is an absolute must-have. For everyone else? An excellent fighting game with stylish presentation and a ton of options.”

“WWE 2K25 powerbombs onto Switch 2 in an excellent port that holds its own against the likes of the PS5 version, and keeps the action smooth and silky, even when you start piling on the wrestlers in a Royal Rumble. With great looks, best-in-class core mechanics, a ton of online, local, and solo modes, and an enormous roster, this one will keep all you Switch 2 wrasslin' fans busy for a good long time. Intergender matches, improved MyRise and Showcase, in-depth tutorials, and the return of chain wrestling are all just icing on top.”

“WWE 2K25 is the most complete entry yet, with enhanced graphics, smoother animations, and new features. The Showcase mode, focused on the Anoa’i family and Roman Reigns, shines with Paul Heyman’s narration. Mixed matches return after 16 years, a third-person camera adds realism, and “MyRise” unifies male and female storylines. The only downside is “The Island” mode, which struggles with technical issues and limited content.”

“WWE 2K25 manages to deliver an excellent gameplay experience. Despite being an annual release, it comes packed with a significant number of updates and additions compared to its predecessor. Unfortunately, it also carries some disappointing aspects, most notably The Island mode, which relies far too heavily on real-money spending in a way that feels extremely frustrating.”

“Despite having amazing core gameplay, 2K25 offers half-baked content that brings down the experience”

“In conclusion, WWE 2K25 is a solid title, capable of entertaining and offering a rich and varied gaming experience. The audio-visual section remains spectacular, while the innovations introduced on the gameplay side, although minor, give further depth to the title. However, The Island proves to be an addition of little value, due to the strong centrality of microtransactions, while the showcase mode continues to bring the same problems of previous editions. In general, WWE 2K25 confirms the strengths of the series, guaranteeing hours of pure fun for all WWE fans. Some bugs, although very rare, affect the general realization of the work, but in all likelihood they will be resolved with some patches in the coming weeks.”

“For the fourth year running, 2K and Visual Concepts have produced a high quality wrestling game that's absolutely overflowing with content. While not every change sticks the landing and The Island is a potentially worrying omen for the future of the series, it's the inclusion of intergender wrestling, other new features and match types, and strong Showcase and MyRISE modes that cement WWE 2K25 as a must-play for any wrestling fan.”

“For wrestling fans looking for an entertaining simulation with solid match mechanics, “WWE 2K25” offers a few hours of fun. Nevertheless, the game feels like a minimal update in many areas rather than a real step forward. Those who were able to get to grips with the previous mechanics will also be satisfied with this release - but those hoping for major innovations will be disappointed.”

“WWE 2K25 will bring you back to the wrestling show! With improved visuals, animations and a variety of game modes, we can argue that this is a really good WWE game. Apart from a few technical bugs and the lack of The Island mode on PC, we can guarantee that this is a game that will get you ready for the ring.”
