How this score was computed
The VGC Score is a weighted blend on a press-comparable 0-100 quality scale. Steam approval rates are first calibrated (95% positive on Steam ≈ 89.5 quality, since Steam approval skews high). Press and tracked creator reviews each count ~2x a player review and share one cap against player evidence (creator buy/skip calls pool into an approval rate, calibrated like Steam approval); all-time sentiment is capped and halved (it's context, not verdict); reviews of the current build carry the most weight when a fresh patch anchors the window; and a 'typical game' prior keeps small samples from pegging the scale. Because press reviews and Metacritic user aggregates describe the launch build, their weight decays as the game ages (3-year half-life after a 1-year grace). That's how a game that launched rough can outgrow its old reception once updates win players over. Reviews under 2h playtime (the refund window), non-Steam activations, and free copies are downweighted.

| Metacritic user ratings | – | 72 | 9 |
| Post-patch Steam reviews (trust-weighted) | 100% | 97 | 1 |

“At first Get Even grabs your attention, but after a while you realize that before you only an imitation of a quality product with a completely unnecessary combat, boring story and dull characters. And this is for an intelligent psychological thriller just a terrible omission.”

“One of the best stories in games for the last few years. Wish I could say the same about other parts of Get Even…”

“Get Even is an interesting hybrid - you'll find pieces of a walking simulator, a stealth game, a shooter, a puzzle adventure and a really well written thriller. Not only the story is pretty exceptional - so are the audio and music. The overall quality is good enough to prevent mediocre graphics and some level cloning from having fun. Good job.”

“Get Even intertwines exploration, walking simulator, shooter and easy puzzles with intense narrative that has ramifications based on decision that hooks the player. But mixing up all those mechanics without any of them being truly remarkable, several visual issues, specially taking into consideration the genre we're talking about, and its constant up and downs when it comes to gameplay hinder its value among the many nowadays competitors. ”

“There is a slither of something within Get Even to enjoy. An intriguing story, narrative beats that hit hard, and a sound design that brings out the terror and peril of exploration. However, only those with the most patience will uncover these treats, as it all remains buried amongst basic puzzles, bad plotting, terrible combat, and awkward dialogue. What Get Even attempts to do is bring together several elements of game design to try and lift the walking simulator genre forward; however, it's a game that seems ashamed of its own inspiration.”

“So-so combat and dubious PC performance can't overshadow a genre-defying game of narrative manipulation and polymathic mechanical trickery.”

“Get Even had a good base of neat ideas, but the execution of the overall product is so poor that many areas feel unfinished. Combat is quite simply a disaster, the graphics look like they've been taken from a 2008 PS3 game, and the soundtrack crushes your enjoyment far too often. The plot may well grab your attention, but the act of actually playing Get Even is nothing but a chore.”

“At the end of the day, Get Even took me by surprise. I was expecting a standard FPS and what I got was a strange, intriguing psychological thriller that had just as many puzzles and investigation parts as it did shooting and stealth parts. The storytelling is superb and the overall design is something to really take a look at.”

“Get Even has a lot of ambition, but never quite realises it. While there are lots of individual beats to like, most notably the exceptional music and sound design - its multiple influences never quite congeal into anything solid.”

“Get Even doesn't have one strong suit from a gameplay perspective. The shooting is serviceable, the stealth is partially broken, and the investigations are almost too easy unless you're not very observant. At the same time, the story is absolutely bonkers enough to keep you glued until the end, and the presentation certainly pumps up your adrenaline even if there isn't a scare to be had. If you're the type of gamer who cares more about narrative than action, Get Even is worth checking out.”

“A trashy, overwrought psychodrama with the odd inspired touch that alternates between simple forensic puzzles and gimmicky gunplay.”
