How this score was computed
The VGC Score is a weighted blend on a press-comparable 0-100 quality scale. Steam approval rates are first calibrated (95% positive on Steam ≈ 89.5 quality, since Steam approval skews high). Press and tracked creator reviews each count ~2x a player review and share one cap against player evidence (creator buy/skip calls pool into an approval rate, calibrated like Steam approval); all-time sentiment is capped and halved (it's context, not verdict); reviews of the current build carry the most weight when a fresh patch anchors the window; and a 'typical game' prior keeps small samples from pegging the scale. Because press reviews and Metacritic user aggregates describe the launch build, their weight decays as the game ages (3-year half-life after a 1-year grace). That's how a game that launched rough can outgrow its old reception once updates win players over. Reviews under 2h playtime (the refund window), non-Steam activations, and free copies are downweighted.

“There are so many of these bloody games on the market now, all vying for attention, all doing the same thing, and none of them doing enough of anything good. This is just one in a line of flimsy “service” games, light on original content but plenty heavy on microtransactions. Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League has its moments of messy fun, but those moments are entrenched between gulfs of numbingly inane “looter shooter” nonsense.”

“Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is a great game, which of course suffers from a few flaws that hopefully won't be repeated in future chapters of the story we'll get after release. If you're looking for a heavily comic-book-comedy adventure that you can additionally check out with your friends, or if you're a looter-shooter aficionado, then the game is definitely for you, especially since the game's future seems to be planned for quite a long time into the future.”

“Suicide Squad has zero redeeming features. It's a game that tries to be edgy and fails. It tries to be fun but fails. And above all else, it tries to appeal to a wide audience and appeals to nobody. This is a lazy, poorly written mess that deserves to be treated the same way Batman is in this game - like disposable trash that's thrown out after a monologue about how bad it is.”

“After almost a decade of waiting Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League turned out to be a far cry from anything most of the fans of Rocksteady Studios would have wanted. And seeing the current playerbase the game has, it's hard to tell if we even ever see where this whole story was planned to go.”

“Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is Rocksteady's first attempt to delve into the waters of live-service titles, and unfortunately, it's not one of the happiest examples. It's a bone-dry shooter that currently has no choice but to rely on the story and recycle the minimal content one can find in it. Will that change in the coming seasons? Maybe yes, maybe no. There's nothing to do but wait. In terms of release, though, this title doesn't even come close to the studio's previous games, and one that may very well end up like most live-service titles that fail to impress from day one.”

“Notice that Suicide Squad constantly found its balance points: the story is simple, but the characters are incredibly well-crafted. The graphics aren’t impressive, but the facial expressions are outstanding. The gameplay gets tiresome over time, but it’s fun. In the end, the game that seemed destined to be a disaster turned out to be a good experience. I believe that without the GaaS model, with a less repetitive gameplay structure and a more tightly written story, Suicide Squad could have reached greater heights. However, the final result was still positive.”

“After nine years, Rocksteady has returned with a brand-new title that, while having nothing to do with the original Batman trilogy, attempts to build on the popular Arkham universe. Unfortunately, *Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League* turned out to be a rather uninteresting and unentertaining game that suffers most of all from a lack of quality content and is essentially just a rehash of the same old stuff. We’ll see if future updates improve the quality. Personally, though, I’m very concerned that Rocksteady’s new game is doomed to an early demise due to players’ dwindling interest. Perhaps if the developers had created a new Batman game, they would have fared much better. Five out of ten.”

“Perhaps the most baffling fact is that it took Rocksteady, a famed developer whose past games are considered undeniable classics that are being played to this day, took nine years to make a game that falls abysmally short of the studio's own high standards. Suicide Squad isn't a terrible game, some of the negative attention could perhaps be attributed to marketing misfires, and some of the criticism is perhaps too harsh, even if not unwarranted. But it constantly pales in comparison to Rocksteady's Batman: Arkham games in every aspect that matters. There are seeds of ideas, systems, and story here that could have delivered a legitimately fun and distinctly unique shooter. But as the self-destructive game that it chooses to be, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League only shoots itself in the foot.”

“Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League desperately tries to lure you in with its funny “quirkiness” and looter shooter gameplay, but fails miserably by completely ruining the narrative of almost all DC characters, making them obsolete, weak and poorly written. You can see some sparks of RockSteady’s talent here, but ultimately, the whole experience is very generic, repetitive and extremely disappointing.”

“Crafted with an immense love of their own franchise, Rocksteady’s Suicide Squad might very well be flawed, but it bears a cross that has “fun” etched deep into the wood.”

“Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is a contradictory game: it has a good narrative and a great gameplay, but all is cancelled by a live service structure that limits its depth and variety. The game is worth for the fans only for the main campaign.”
