How this score was computed
The VGC Score is a weighted blend on a press-comparable 0-100 quality scale. Steam approval rates are first calibrated (95% positive on Steam ≈ 89.5 quality, since Steam approval skews high). Press and tracked creator reviews each count ~2x a player review and share one cap against player evidence (creator buy/skip calls pool into an approval rate, calibrated like Steam approval); all-time sentiment is capped and halved (it's context, not verdict); reviews of the current build carry the most weight when a fresh patch anchors the window; and a 'typical game' prior keeps small samples from pegging the scale. Because press reviews and Metacritic user aggregates describe the launch build, their weight decays as the game ages (3-year half-life after a 1-year grace). That's how a game that launched rough can outgrow its old reception once updates win players over. Reviews under 2h playtime (the refund window), non-Steam activations, and free copies are downweighted.

| All-time Steam reviews | 92% | 86 | 1000 |

“Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 is back. Very good graphics, fun gameplay, a good cast, all modes and extras sold separately in the original edition, and all for a very fair price, fairer than we imagined it would be. So, if you liked it when it came out in the previous generation, and were sad that it was gone from the market, keep an eye out. Oh, and PC and Xbox One owners don't need to be sad, because this re-release will also appear there, even if it takes a while, only in March 2017.”

“In short, there will never be another fighter quite like Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3. The staggering roster has some notable flaws, but an admirable effort was made to provide something for everyone. The X-Factor sub-system could have used a bit more development time in order to iron out the issues. Even taking into account all of the frustrating nonsense that can occur, this game is still very impressive. The Xbox One port is really good, though there aren't enough additions to win over anyone who has played the previous version extensively. For everyone else, it's still a worthwhile pickup.”

“Anyone looking to get into the fighting genre would fare well here: it's not too technical at first, but offers enough gameplay and modes to turn you into a combo-mashing pro while keeping you entertained. ”

“Even if you think the double dipping of Ultimate was a scam, it is hard to deny the value of being able to play this amazing brawler whenever, and wherever, you want. I cannot recommend this game enough and if you own a Vita, this is easily a must-own in my book.”

“Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 rumbles onto PC years after its original, last-generation console release. Despite irritating infinite combos and a barren online lobby, it was worth the wait, thanks to fun fighting, included console DLC, and a wallet-friendly price.”

“Honestly, all you need to know to determine whether the PS4 version of Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 is for you, is that it's still Marvel vs Capcom 3. The strengths and flaws are well documented, and nothing has really changed from the HD re-release.”

“An excellent port of Capcom's gloriously insane crossover fighter. It may not have the depth of Street Fighter but in the short term at least it's just as entertaining.”
