How this score was computed
The VGC Score is a weighted blend on a press-comparable 0-100 quality scale. Steam approval rates are first calibrated (95% positive on Steam ≈ 89.5 quality, since Steam approval skews high). Press and tracked creator reviews each count ~2x a player review and share one cap against player evidence (creator buy/skip calls pool into an approval rate, calibrated like Steam approval); all-time sentiment is capped and halved (it's context, not verdict); reviews of the current build carry the most weight when a fresh patch anchors the window; and a 'typical game' prior keeps small samples from pegging the scale. Because press reviews and Metacritic user aggregates describe the launch build, their weight decays as the game ages (3-year half-life after a 1-year grace). That's how a game that launched rough can outgrow its old reception once updates win players over. Reviews under 2h playtime (the refund window), non-Steam activations, and free copies are downweighted.
| Component | Positive | Quality (0-100) | Weight (pseudo-reviews) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Press reviews (OpenCritic) | – | 70 | 46 |
| All-time Steam reviews | 84% | 78 | 120 |
| Metacritic user ratings | – | – | 0 |
| Post-patch Steam reviews (trust-weighted) | 88% | 82 | 79 |
| Calibration prior (typical game) | – | 72 | 50 |

“I can’t say I had a bad time playing Truck kun is Supporting Me from Another World!. It’s a pretty solid, small indie game that can be a lot of fun for a while. The biggest problem, however, remains the limited content and the monotony that quickly sets in, which over time starts to feel like a simple grind. Only players who are truly interested in seeing the story through to the end will stick with this title for a full 3 hours. The rest will likely decide after just the first hour that they’ve seen pretty much everything the game has to offer.”

“[Y]ou could do worse than spend RM49 on this PS1-looking one-trick pony just for an empty weekend.”

“Truck-kun is Supporting Me from Another World fully commits to the bit and uses every isekai trope to provide motivation to run over everything. It’s such a silly game. Driving around town causing senseless destruction in a colorful cartoon world can be a lot of fun! I just wish sometimes there’d be more people I could turn into monsters. ”

“Overall, Truck-kun is Supporting Me from Another World?! is such a silly concept made from a ridiculous meme in the isekai genre of manga and anime. That is to say, Strange Scaffold understands the conventions of the genre, and includes some fantastic character designs and a great ska-inspired soundtrack. Some of the grinding elements and tough difficulty spikes can ruin the fun, but when you’re driving around, mowing down pedestrians and enjoying the silliness for what it is, it’s definitely an experience worth getting isekai’d for, at least for a little bit.”

“As much as I wanted to like Truck-kun is Supporting Me from Another World, the experience didn't deliver on the premise's fun. Shallow gameplay that doesn't evolve paired with a bland narrative makes even this short experience feel like a drag. It's not actively offensive, nor is the gameplay awful, but it simply doesn't have enough to support its already simple premise. ”

“It’s disappointing that even in the three and a half hours I spent making my way through Truck-kun is Supporting Me from Another World?!’s story, I was validated in feeling like I’d seen everything after my third or fourth romp around its small open-world. While I admire the modest scope that Strange Scaffold set out to achieve with this tightly focused premise, its structure is quickly burdened by a lack of variety.”

“A parodic, low-poly, out-of-control version of Crazy Taxi, capable of pushing you to start one run after another despite barely ever introducing anything new.”

“Just having a tangible goal to work toward is a strong enough incentive to do another run in Truck-kun. There’s a lot of potential to be tapped into here and I’d love to see the game gain a more engaging loop past the initial burst of absurdity.”

“Truck-kun is Supporting Me from Another World?! is a funny, inventive arcade racer that makes the most of its one map, backed by a standout soundtrack and a core loop with real personality.”

“The concept of running people over to turn them into enemies of an isekai heroine is as absurd as it is fitting for an adventure as funny and over-the-top as Truck-kun is Supporting Me from Another World. This indie game is short and doesn't boast impressive technical aspects, but it offers tons of fun and very likeable characters that serve as a perfect parody of the 'isekai' genre that currently saturates the world of manga and anime.”

“Truck-kun Is Supporting Me From Another World is an incredibly fun experience.”

“Truck-kun is Supporting Me from Another World?! is a neat palate cleanser, but it’s decidedly short and not something you’ll be itching to play through again right away. While there’s measures to gate progression, I suspect there might be ways to get around that and would be a cool to see speedran at Games Done Quick. I love short experiences, but I think there’s so much more to do here that it ends up being full of missed opportunities. Even though this is built on the back of a meme and trope, Truck-kun is Supporting Me from Another World?! is certainly a fun romp for the several hours it lasts.”
