How this score was computed
The VGC Score is a weighted blend on a press-comparable 0-100 quality scale. Steam approval rates are first calibrated (95% positive on Steam ≈ 89.5 quality, since Steam approval skews high). Press and tracked creator reviews each count ~2x a player review and share one cap against player evidence (creator buy/skip calls pool into an approval rate, calibrated like Steam approval); all-time sentiment is capped and halved (it's context, not verdict); reviews of the current build carry the most weight when a fresh patch anchors the window; and a 'typical game' prior keeps small samples from pegging the scale. Because press reviews and Metacritic user aggregates describe the launch build, their weight decays as the game ages (3-year half-life after a 1-year grace). That's how a game that launched rough can outgrow its old reception once updates win players over. Reviews under 2h playtime (the refund window), non-Steam activations, and free copies are downweighted.
| Component | Positive | Quality (0-100) | Weight (pseudo-reviews) |

| Metacritic user ratings | – | – | 0 |
| Post-patch Steam reviews (trust-weighted) | 71% | 68 | 1 |

“The narrative doesn't hold the player's hand, and the storytelling and puzzle-solving are, for the most part, enriched by the reserved delivery.”

“Pushing the envelope in several key ways that will appeal to those who are adequately equipped, else Heart.Break() is that rare game that’s enjoyable and yet can’t be outright recommended for all to play.”

“A beautiful adventure with heart, humour, and satisfying hacking puzzles you can enjoy even if you don’t know anything about coding.”

“The unique system of hacking and freedom of thought make Else Heart.Break() extremely engaging game, in which the freedom will make you almost clueless. The possibility to program the world to you own image, however, is worth a little awkwardness.”

“All in all else Heart.Break () is a unique and challenging gaming experience that invites the player to take a turn on the other side of the program, all the while introducing us to an ambiguous world not so different than our own. ”

“Else Heart.Break() is blazingly modern in design, antiquated in execution”

“A very ambitious mix of hacking, adventuring and an open world sandbox. The game feels somewhat clumsy to play and the objectives can get needlessly obscure, but there's nothing quite like it. [Oct 2016]”

“else Heart.Break() is weird adventure in a strange, techno-centric world that hasn't yet lost its human fondness for romance or the bizarre.”

“This is one of the most original games we've played in a while. If you like coding and you're always willing to try new things, Else Heart.Break() is game you should play.”

“Else Heart.Break() is a strange non linear adventure, deeply based on exploration and hacking mechanics. Perhaps the lack of details provided to the players and the slow pace of the story make this title not for everyone.”
