How this score was computed
The VGC Score is a weighted blend on a press-comparable 0-100 quality scale. Steam approval rates are first calibrated (95% positive on Steam ≈ 89.5 quality, since Steam approval skews high). Press and tracked creator reviews each count ~2x a player review and share one cap against player evidence (creator buy/skip calls pool into an approval rate, calibrated like Steam approval); all-time sentiment is capped and halved (it's context, not verdict); reviews of the current build carry the most weight when a fresh patch anchors the window; and a 'typical game' prior keeps small samples from pegging the scale. Because press reviews and Metacritic user aggregates describe the launch build, their weight decays as the game ages (3-year half-life after a 1-year grace). That's how a game that launched rough can outgrow its old reception once updates win players over. Reviews under 2h playtime (the refund window), non-Steam activations, and free copies are downweighted.

| All-time Steam reviews | 94% | 88 | 1000 |
| Metacritic user ratings | – | 84 | 9 |
| Post-patch Steam reviews (trust-weighted) | 95% | 90 | 8 |

“The Samorost 3 is exactly as long as you need it to be. Playable time depends on the player's ability and ranges from about two hours to ten or more if you want to find and collect all the achievements. During this adventurous quest you'll encounter colourful locations, intriguingly playful puzzles and an engaging story in the iconic surreal style we've all come to love so much. Take heart and save the universe!”

“Bursting with charm and vibrant life, the beautiful worlds of Samorost 3 are beguiling, so long as you don’t worry too much about logic or plot and just go with the flow.”

“What is Samorost 3? It's more of an exploration game full of child-like wonder than a classic point'n'click adventure. It's a unique audiovisual experience, a pretty little indie gem that has more in common with real art than many modern art installations in various museums.”

“Wordless, beautiful and languid, the latest Samorost is a fine adventure game, even if it's not particularly adventurous itself.”

“Though I did eventually grow bored of its puzzles, I never tired of Samorost 3's world. Added mechanical depth and variety would have certainly made the game richer, but every subtle visual detail, every lingering musical note, every delightful interaction coalesces into a truly special world that makes Samorost 3 worthwhile nonetheless.”

“Although you’ll sometimes resort to trial and error, Samorost 3’s unsettling beauty and surreal atmosphere makes up for the frustration caused by its illogical puzzles.”

“Samorost 3 is as frustrating as it is beautiful. It takes some interesting ideas, a gorgeous environment, and a fantastic soundscape and applies them to a gameplay formula that doesn't work quite as well as it should. And with its short playtime and weak motivation, there's not much reason to embark on a journey in this world.”

“A warm and joyful adventure through a magical world; obtuse at times, but more interested in delighting than challenging.”

“Samorost 3 is the kind of game that I’d recommend to parents looking for something to play with their young children, or to anyone with a whimsical disposition. It is as transporting as a richly-dyed scarf wafting through the air.”

“Third part continues where it had ended long time ago, it was sufficiently long ago for Amanita to make completely new and unprecedented features. Just a pity they show their best cards too soon. [Issue#262]”

“Samorost 3 is a well-made game by the creators of Machinarium. It has very amazing sceneries, great puzzles, and interesting story. It is not very long and it is not as great as Machinarium but it is still a must-play game for adventure and puzzle fans.”
