How this score was computed
The VGC Score is a weighted blend on a press-comparable 0-100 quality scale. Steam approval rates are first calibrated (95% positive on Steam ≈ 89.5 quality, since Steam approval skews high). Press and tracked creator reviews each count ~2x a player review and share one cap against player evidence (creator buy/skip calls pool into an approval rate, calibrated like Steam approval); all-time sentiment is capped and halved (it's context, not verdict); reviews of the current build carry the most weight when a fresh patch anchors the window; and a 'typical game' prior keeps small samples from pegging the scale. Because press reviews and Metacritic user aggregates describe the launch build, their weight decays as the game ages (3-year half-life after a 1-year grace). That's how a game that launched rough can outgrow its old reception once updates win players over. Reviews under 2h playtime (the refund window), non-Steam activations, and free copies are downweighted.

“All told Splasher is a smartly designed, tight platformer that offers up hours of replay value on top of the creative ideas it delivers. It takes the Super Meat Boy template and builds upon it in a notable way, creating an experience that feels just the right amount of familiar and fresh. Though there isn't a whole lot to write home about when it comes to the presentation, the core gameplay is more than enough to keep you engaged.We give this one a strong recommendation, especially to those who are looking to dip their toes into the twitch platforming genre. Splasher is easy enough to pick up, yet difficult to master, and stands as a worthy addition to the Switch eShop.”

“A fun solid 2d Platformer. I uses gel types to allow the player to paint the walls and use them to explore entire levels. Perfect for speed runners, but still a solid game for everyone else.”

“Splasher is simply a whole lot of challenging platforming fun, requiring you to be on top of your game both mentally and physically. Once you get into the flow of things it is pretty amazing how fluidly you’ll be able to move through the levels, aiming and shooting mid-air while you dodge between traps and enemies. What sometimes starts out seeming to be a formidable challenge will fall with some repetition and tuning and the sense of accomplishment when you complete some of the levels is substantial. If you’re up to the challenge you’re in for a lot of fun!”

“Splasher is a creative, fun, and competent 2D platformer. It takes a gimmick and runs with it as far as it possibly can in the best way possible. It keeps the player interested and the difficulty curve fair by slowly feeding new tools to change the environment and gameplay, ensuring the game stays fresh towards the end. It is, however, on the short end, and a special world with extremely challenging stages at the end of the game would not have hurt it at all. That said, when the only complaint is that the player is left wishing for more, even after a filling meal, it is a great testament to how good and solid Splasher truly is.”

“In the world we live in now where more and more platformers are popping up all the time, it's so nice to play through such a refreshing (and dare I say "fluid") adventure. Splasher's interesting paint cannon mechanic paired with the excellent level design will have you bouncing through each level feeling like a boss from start to finish. If you like a great challenge, charming animations and a new take on an old genre, look no further.”

“Splasher‘s brilliance is clear to see, and it is not hard to come to understand why it has become so popular with speedrunners, especially thanks to the chance to switch to Time Attack mode on the fly, challenging you to complete each level as fast as possible in competing in the online leaderboards. The Nintendo Switch may already be home to a fair few platformers, but Splasher will long linger in your memory for all the right reasons. Slick and tuned to perfection, it’s another Nintendo eShop release that’s not to be missed.”

“Splasher is perceived as a distinctive product, which although takes mechanics from other projects, but presents them in a new light, showing from the most advantageous side, the lack of a timer in normal mode, more happy than not, and the confusion and madness happening on the screen, leaves the tranquility not for a minute. “Splasher is a very colorful and fun 2D action platformer with plenty of content to enjoy. Once you get into the groove of things and you start to 100% level after level, you'll see why it's a very addictive experience. Before you know it you would have completed all stages in the game and rescued all Splasher from Le Decteur, ready to do it all over again as you aim at landing a spot at the top of the time trial leaderboards.”

“Welcome back, ladies and germs! Being disgustingly sick all week has crippled my throat and lungs, leaving me high and dry on streaming and podcasting. As it turns out, however, my lucrative mind and fingers still function as intended and brings us to yet another TAKEALOOKSEE!
