How this score was computed

The VGC Score is a weighted blend on a press-comparable 0-100 quality scale. Steam approval rates are first calibrated (95% positive on Steam ≈ 89.5 quality, since Steam approval skews high). Press and tracked creator reviews each count ~2x a player review and share one cap against player evidence (creator buy/skip calls pool into an approval rate, calibrated like Steam approval); all-time sentiment is capped and halved (it's context, not verdict); reviews of the current build carry the most weight when a fresh patch anchors the window; and a 'typical game' prior keeps small samples from pegging the scale. Because press reviews and Metacritic user aggregates describe the launch build, their weight decays as the game ages (3-year half-life after a 1-year grace). That's how a game that launched rough can outgrow its old reception once updates win players over. Reviews under 2h playtime (the refund window), non-Steam activations, and free copies are downweighted.

A rollercoaster of such highs only to be undone by flying straight off the tracks, Parkitect: Deluxe Edition has too many game-breaking issues to recommend taking a chance on. Its building gameplay, visual and sound design set it to a rip-roaring start, just so the technical performance and save-deletion issues cause this entire ported rollercoaster to derail.

Parkitect offers a well constructed attraction, even if the ride is overly familiar.

Parkitect lets you go as deep as you want and rewards you for doing so. But gives you options not to if you aren't in the mood. It is a great park designer, and an excellent simulation game that deserves to sit alongside many of the old greats we grew up with.

Parkitect is a great little game that didn’t quite let me relive the glory days of the 90’s Theme Park game but it came closer than most. There’s tons of content to get stuck into for any wannabe theme park architect.

Parkitect is the thinking player’s theme park sim. It rewards patience, precision, and a desire to understand how things work under the hood. It’s less about instant gratification and more about mastery, perfect for players who don’t just want to ride the roller coaster but design every bolt of the track.

If you came into this review with the simple question of "is this game a modern-day RollerCoaster Tycoon?" the answer is an absolute yes.

Parkitect is a fantastic example of the sim genre. It is fun, challenging, and wonderfully addictive. It has amazing old-school vibes and lovers of Theme Park and Theme Hospital will adore every minute.

Parkitect: Deluxe Edition’s no frills approach to building a theme park will undoubtedly appeal to those looking for a modern Theme Park World or Roller Coaster Tycoon game. But you’ll have to put up with a few big issues too.

This game, for anyone who hasn't played it and likes simulations or management games, is a highly recommended game. It is a simple but enjoyable experience, which is suitable for almost any audience and makes it a game that I must recommend and that I think is good.

Parkitect: Deluxe Edition is honestly fantastic and well worth the purchase if you are into park builders. Not only does it give me the nostalgic nod to the past that I very much needed, but it does it in a modern style with beautiful polish and shine. The fact that you get access to the already-released DLCs in this entire package makes for potentially hundreds of hours of gameplay if you want it. I found it difficult to draw any criticisms from the entire experience other than some fiddly controls especially when laying underground pipes and some other fine-tuning elements. Aside from this though, this is an incredible indie title which has all the same vibes as Bullfrog Productions Theme Park from 30 years ago. For £19.99 it is an absolute steal and well worth every penny and a game that I will continue to play even after this review it is that brilliant.
