How this score was computed
The VGC Score is a weighted blend on a press-comparable 0-100 quality scale. Steam approval rates are first calibrated (95% positive on Steam ≈ 89.5 quality, since Steam approval skews high). Press and tracked creator reviews each count ~2x a player review and share one cap against player evidence (creator buy/skip calls pool into an approval rate, calibrated like Steam approval); all-time sentiment is capped and halved (it's context, not verdict); reviews of the current build carry the most weight when a fresh patch anchors the window; and a 'typical game' prior keeps small samples from pegging the scale. Because press reviews and Metacritic user aggregates describe the launch build, their weight decays as the game ages (3-year half-life after a 1-year grace). That's how a game that launched rough can outgrow its old reception once updates win players over. Reviews under 2h playtime (the refund window), non-Steam activations, and free copies are downweighted.

“Gal*Gun Double Peace is an on-rails shooter with light elements of a dating sim. The lightly smutty aspect of the game is unashamedly its big selling point, but if you get into the mechanics of playing it successfully, you can get some solid gaming entertainment out of it.”

“Maybe I’m just picking up on the moaning and the erotic undertones, but Gal*Gun Double Peace! has nothing else to offer. The story is fine, but it’s just a run-of-the-mill anime cliché. The characters are whiny and, at times, downright annoying. Unfortunately, the gameplay is far too simple and repetitive, but at least the aiming on the Nintendo works great and there are no issues with it. The graphics are well-done, you can even see things you don’t want to see. You just have to be the game’s target audience; otherwise, I don’t know who it could possibly appeal to.”

“Gal Gun: Double Peace knows its audience, almost too well. Its entertainment factor is centred around crass perversion dressed up like a Saturday morning kid's cartoon; and, if anyone attempts to tell you it's a play on satire addressing the difficulties Japanese women face in a largely sexist society, feel free to laugh loudly in their face. That said, this is admittedly more of a game - and an altogether better game - than most that fall into the ecchi category. While simplistic, there's nothing particularly broken about it, and its Expert Mode does offer a playable enough game to be mildly involving. But, if you don't have a particular affection for its window-dressing, there's not a great deal here to keep rail-shooting fans engaged.”

“Needless to say, this is most definitely not a game for everyone. The plot is a long string of sex jokes, and the gameplay is downright perverse. If you go in knowing to not take it seriously, though, you’re going to have a great time.”

“A fun but obviously niche title that throws players into a deeply ecchi experience that will satisfy fans of the genre, Gal*Gun: Double Peace is excellently made for what it is, and only really falls over when it comes to performance. A thoroughly weird, perverted, but ultimately hilarious game that is going to fit well into people's Switch libraries if they are a fan of this style of content.”

“Shameless like a boob tube but about a billion times less interesting, Gal*Gun: Double Peace is a bad rails-shooter that tries tirelessly to get a raise, only to leave you feeling limp and agitated. If firing pheromones in the faces of overly appreciative schoolgirls is the kind of thing that turns you on, then consider giving Net Nanny her marching orders instead.”

“Don’t be fooled into thinking it’s just a smutty knock off of House of the Dead, this one has solid gameplay, an enthralling narrative and enough content to last you at least until your loved ones get home.”

“Truthfully, I went into Gal*Gun Double Peace with below zero expectations. I figured it would be a cheap, dated game that only had its obvious “fan service” going for it. It’s clearly aimed at that niche audience, but Gal Gun is fun, funny, and easy to pick up and play for countless quick sessions. The poor visuals and complicated story requirements are a shame, but they never truly soured my time with the title and as soon as I finish this review, I plan to play more.”

“I possibly made Gal Gun: Double Peace sound worse than it actually is, by all accounts it’s actually a decent game. If you can look past the games blandness, you have a pretty decent on rails shooter that can actually be charming at times.”

“Overall, this is a very solid game, especially for those that want to play something on the raunchy side. Though the story could be fleshed out a bit more, for a lewd game such as this, it is more than sufficient enough. There are no complaints at all about the gameplay, with praise of its high replay value. For any rail shooter or anime fans, this is definitely a game to pick up.”

“For a game about a guy who shoots girls with “pheromone shots” until they climax, Gal Gun: Double Peace sure is boring.”

“The title offers everything that a good rail shooter must offer: a solid gameplay, a certain difficulty, and many elements to collect. However, it recycles a lot of ideas from its predecessor.”
