How this score was computed
The VGC Score is a weighted blend on a press-comparable 0-100 quality scale. Steam approval rates are first calibrated (95% positive on Steam ≈ 89.5 quality, since Steam approval skews high). Press and tracked creator reviews each count ~2x a player review and share one cap against player evidence (creator buy/skip calls pool into an approval rate, calibrated like Steam approval); all-time sentiment is capped and halved (it's context, not verdict); reviews of the current build carry the most weight when a fresh patch anchors the window; and a 'typical game' prior keeps small samples from pegging the scale. Because press reviews and Metacritic user aggregates describe the launch build, their weight decays as the game ages (3-year half-life after a 1-year grace). That's how a game that launched rough can outgrow its old reception once updates win players over. Reviews under 2h playtime (the refund window), non-Steam activations, and free copies are downweighted.

“The Project Soul team tried to collect all the best from the previous games in the series into one and made some nice improvements in SoulCalibur VI. I want to believe that SoulCalibur has returned, and this time for a long time.”

“Soulcalibur VI fills the gap between casual fighting games and serious e-sports disciplines. It has great mechanics, which are easy to learn for newcomers, and perfect character editor. But most important of all is that Soulcalibur VI is really interesting to play.”

“In the end, there’s a purity to how SoulCalibur VI is so focused above all else on its spectacular swordplay and world building. ”

“I would love it if Soulcalibur VI was prettier and offered more warriors. But what I got was great nonetheless, a superb beat’em up game with a well-designed fighting system, tons of single player content, a solid multiplayer and a unique atmosphere. The legend is back!”

“All in all, it’s a game that simply goes above and beyond what normal fighting games do. From the overall aesthetic to the fluidity of its unique combat. The two-story modes offer unique experiences and online matches give the game value in replayability. And I’m probably a broken record at this point but Libra of Souls is definitely the star of the show as it encourages players to be creative while also experimental.”

“SoulCalibur VI tries to provide a comprehensive package, but the single player offerings are still lacking. The fighting system is solid, but it's the package that lacks something special.”

“SoulCalibur VI is a fresh game which also hits the nostalgia chords very well.”

“SoulCalibur VI tries to go back to its roots and mostly succeeds. It is far from being the game expected after waiting so long for the sixth entry, with low quality visuals, long loading times, and not much improvement over the same old combat, but if the return of old character favourites and that classic gameplay is what is sought after, this will do the job, with plenty to do for the solo player in story modes, although there is a lack of options outside of that.”

“SoulCalibur VI is a fantastic addition to the series and has quickly become my favourite fighting game of this generation. It looks amazing, sounds incredible and runs great.”

“Soulcalibur VI expands the fighting experience with a brief history lesson surrounding the events of the game. While this does take some time to get used to, it offers some great context while introducing a new method to unlock items. There's a noticeable increase in the game's combat, but offers a familiar experience all-around.”

“Soulcalibur VI delivers newcomers and old-time fans alike a double serving: it's a solid 3D fighter that will surely keep one's fighting game community busy for months to come, and a single-player experience chock-full of things to do thanks to two lengthy single-player campaigns and an absorbing Character Creation mode.”
