How this score was computed
The VGC Score is a weighted blend on a press-comparable 0-100 quality scale. Steam approval rates are first calibrated (95% positive on Steam ≈ 89.5 quality, since Steam approval skews high). Press and tracked creator reviews each count ~2x a player review and share one cap against player evidence (creator buy/skip calls pool into an approval rate, calibrated like Steam approval); all-time sentiment is capped and halved (it's context, not verdict); reviews of the current build carry the most weight when a fresh patch anchors the window; and a 'typical game' prior keeps small samples from pegging the scale. Because press reviews and Metacritic user aggregates describe the launch build, their weight decays as the game ages (3-year half-life after a 1-year grace). That's how a game that launched rough can outgrow its old reception once updates win players over. Reviews under 2h playtime (the refund window), non-Steam activations, and free copies are downweighted.

“Among us is a nice cooperative fun. It requires a combination of your gaming skills and you must be able to communicate with others, read between the lines, think logically and lie perfectly. We really appreciate the novel idea for this computer game, however, we cannot forgive the developers for neglecting this game. It could still be at the height of its glory if they had taken more care of it, as we have seen new content very late. Also, we don't recommend playing without friends you get to know, as it's not the best experience without them. We also appreciate the work of the community, they help keep this game going through various parodies, songs, fanart, and even movies. Among Us is highly recommended, but again we put it on your heart to never play it alone, just have a few friends.”

“Among Us is an instantly accessible and super-addictive casual gaming experience that serves up some hilarious whodunnit hijinks in short bursts that are perfectly suited to portable play. There are a few niggles here with regards to controls that make communication fussier than it really needs to be, but this is a fine port that finally enables Switch gamers to jump in and see what all the fuss is about with this most unlikely of gaming sensations.”

“Such a simple, and yet such an amazing game. Among Us puts the crew of astronauts against an Impostor who looks the same as other players, but is on a task to sabotage and murder everyone. Gameplay works perfectly and can easily break a few friendships.”

“Not all of the gameplay translates perfectly to the DualSense, as it’s clearly been designed around either touchscreens or mouse-and-keyboards. It’s not a big deal, though, and once you find a good lobby with a friendly group this is one of the better party games you’ll find on the PS5. It’s just finding said people can be a bit of an exercise in trial-and-error, so be aware that you will be at the mercy of the release’s unchecked community unless you have a guaranteed group of pals to play with.”

“Among Us is a simple yet gripping social deduction game where crewmates must complete tasks aboard a spaceship while trying to identify the impostor among them, who’s secretly sabotaging and killing. With its cartoonish visuals and eerie sound design, it creates a tense and often hilarious atmosphere. The gameplay thrives on social dynamics: accusations, bluffing, and betrayal are key, especially during emergency meetings. While matches with friends can be thrilling and unforgettable, random online sessions often suffer from unreliable players and chaotic communication. Still, Among Us shines as a clever and accessible party game, especially with a familiar group.”

“Among Us gives a genuinely necessary respite from reality without paying attention to itself as well.”

“Finally making its way onto PlayStation, Among Us is still the very best that the social deduction genre has to offer. Using some inventive workarounds to support controllers, this game loses little to nothing in the port away from its natural home on phones and tablets. With a group of strangers, it’s easy to have a great time with this game. With friends, Among Us comes alive in one of the best multiplayer experiences on the market today as you attempt to stab your pals in the back. Both figuratively and literally.”

“Accessible enough for everybody, Among Us coaxes out everyone’s inner psychopath and Sherlock. With short addictive bursts of gameplay that's long enough to satiate, this sleeper hit has/will become a staple in your games library and gaming nights to come.”

“Unique mix of easily understandable mechanics, well-paced gameplay, depth and fun. Among Us for everyone! [Issue#307]”

“Among Us successfully transfers the devious gameplay of in-person cloak-and-dagger games to video game form. Murder and deception on a whimsical cartoony spaceship is so much fun that the only real question is what took it so long to catch on?”

“Everything runs smoothly, the online connectivity works surprisingly well for a Switch game, and even the lack of a Switch keyboard can be mitigated by playing the game on handheld mode. All in all, it’s a competent port to probably the only console Among Us makes sense to be on.”
