How this score was computed
The VGC Score is a weighted blend on a press-comparable 0-100 quality scale. Steam approval rates are first calibrated (95% positive on Steam ≈ 89.5 quality, since Steam approval skews high). Press and tracked creator reviews each count ~2x a player review and share one cap against player evidence (creator buy/skip calls pool into an approval rate, calibrated like Steam approval); all-time sentiment is capped and halved (it's context, not verdict); reviews of the current build carry the most weight when a fresh patch anchors the window; and a 'typical game' prior keeps small samples from pegging the scale. Because press reviews and Metacritic user aggregates describe the launch build, their weight decays as the game ages (3-year half-life after a 1-year grace). That's how a game that launched rough can outgrow its old reception once updates win players over. Reviews under 2h playtime (the refund window), non-Steam activations, and free copies are downweighted.
| Component | Positive | Quality (0-100) | Weight (pseudo-reviews) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Press reviews (OpenCritic) | – | 70 | 13 |
| All-time Steam reviews | 68% | 65 | 931 |
| Metacritic user ratings | – | – | 0 |
| Post-patch Steam reviews (trust-weighted) | 100% | 97 | 1 |
| Calibration prior (typical game) | – | 72 | 50 |

“Conan Unconquered is a welcome addition to the RTS genre as it looks to change things up with a more defensive focus. The flaws in the game are not enough of a problem to stop me from recommending it to fans and newcomers to the genre. In fact, I would heartily agree to any invites for a co-op multiplayer session if you've picked it up.”

“Losing to a devastating horde in Conan Unconquered makes victory later on that much sweeter. But it's difficult to know if this kind of challenge-based real-time strategy game can maintain a long-term appeal.”

“A capable yet uncreative and unimpressive game that feels straight out of the early 2000s.”

“While it is no genre-defining title like Command & Conquer, Conan Unconquered is more than just a worthy successor to a team of developers known for their storied past. Excellent graphics, if troublesome user interface, and a pacing that will have you both glued to the seat and your heart beating with the very drums of war. Conan Unconquered should without a doubt, be in every RTS fan’s library.”

“Petroglyph + Funcom = unbeatable Conan. RTS with tower defense elements works very well. Just beware of fire!”

“Conan Unconquered won't satisfy neither devout RTS fans nor everyone else. Aside from the franchise it's based on, it has no unique hook and is destined to be forgotten and lost in the tide of average titles.”

“Not your typical real-time strategy game, but despite a few interesting ideas this shallow husk of a game feels almost barbarically simple.”

“A tower defense game combines with classic RTS feelings. Conan Unconquered does not look so attractive nowadays, it needs more enlighten idea to impress gamers.”

“The game has potential, but right now I would only recommend it to you if you are very clear about what you are getting into and if you like this style of game very much.”

“Conan Unconquered is a deep and rewarding strategy-survival title with some unfortunate technical issues that could really shine with some updates. Grab a friend and you'll have a quality co-op game on your hands.”

“Conan Unconquered is a defense based strategy game. This game had a lot of potential to become a very good real-time strategy game and is well-designed in some aspects. But some parts of the game like Economy System has a lot of balancing issues that prevents you from enjoying the game. The game is also overpriced and even one of the three heroes of the game are locked behind a paywall which is not acceptable for a 30$”
