How this score was computed
The VGC Score is a weighted blend on a press-comparable 0-100 quality scale. Steam approval rates are first calibrated (95% positive on Steam ≈ 89.5 quality, since Steam approval skews high). Press and tracked creator reviews each count ~2x a player review and share one cap against player evidence (creator buy/skip calls pool into an approval rate, calibrated like Steam approval); all-time sentiment is capped and halved (it's context, not verdict); reviews of the current build carry the most weight when a fresh patch anchors the window; and a 'typical game' prior keeps small samples from pegging the scale. Because press reviews and Metacritic user aggregates describe the launch build, their weight decays as the game ages (3-year half-life after a 1-year grace). That's how a game that launched rough can outgrow its old reception once updates win players over. Reviews under 2h playtime (the refund window), non-Steam activations, and free copies are downweighted.
| Component | Positive | Quality (0-100) | Weight (pseudo-reviews) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Press reviews (OpenCritic) | – | 76 | 83 |
| All-time Steam reviews | 97% | 92 | 1000 |
| Metacritic user ratings | – | 78 | 58 |
| Post-patch Steam reviews (trust-weighted) | 99% | 95 | 457 |
| Calibration prior (typical game) | – | 72 | 50 |
Acclaim gate: the raw blend lands at 91.2, but scores above 88 must be earned in front of a mass audience; this verdict rests on 13,980 player reviews, a largely self-selected fanbase. As more players weigh in, the ceiling rises (full scale unlocks at 100,000 reviews).

“Little Kitty, Big City is a small and at the same time big, comforting adventure that you go through the whole thing with a smile on your face. Despite its short length, it managed to live up to my expectations and I'm definitely looking forward to more productions from Double Dagger Studio, although I wouldn't mind some DLC either!”

“Little Kitty, Big City is a joyful experience that successfully emulates playing the role of a cat. This sweet and relaxing game provides plenty to do in an easy-to-navigate environment that's ripe for exploring. I appreciate the work the developers have put into this, and I hope they get a chance to create similar titles in the future.”

“Little Kitty, Big City is an adorable adventure that will almost certainly turn you into a cat lover, if you're not one already. It oozes charm and the realistic cat animations are simply incredible, although for as fun as it is to wander about the city, the game leans heavily on fetch quests and gathering up collectibles, which can lead to repetition. If you're someone who thrives on that kind of gameplay, however, then you'll have an absolute blast with this one.”

“Little Kitty, Big City, for all its adorable looks and antics, is not just fluff. Its various and interlocking reward systems, playful and genuine characters’ problems, and endlessly explorable concrete jungle gym make it a worthwhile game.”

“Little Kitty, Big City obviously profits from its feline main character, but remove the cat and you're still left with a breezy, cozy game with a colorful cast of characters and a bunch of diverting side missions.”

“While only taking a handful of hours to complete, this charming feline adventure is cute and delightful”

“Little Kitty, Big City is a purrfect addition to Xbox Game Pass and, in our view, is worth checking out if you have a subscription. If we've learned anything from our three hour romp through the city, it's that… we're glad humans have faces. Also that contributing to a circular economy by recycling cans is important. But most importantly, we affirmed what we thought we already knew: that being a silly cat is very good fun. This is the first ever release from Seattle-based developer Double Dagger Studio, and we think they should feel proud for delivering some much-needed, cat-shaped joy to Xbox.”

“It’s cute and colourful, then, and something you can zone out with while you listen to a podcast or watch something else. But it won’t live long in the memory, even if its urban backdrop and light-hearted style offers an appreciated change of pace.”

“Little Kitty, Big City has appropriately-sized ambitions, as it manages to be both grounded and lofty, keeping the player’s eyes scanning the city for open windows, holes in fences, nooks and crannies in which to hide, and vent pipes to climb. Exploration and character interactions are a joy, and I look forward to Double Dagger Studios’ next creation.”

“Little Kitty, Big City may not be a high profile hit with huge accolades like Stray, and it doesn't aspire to that kind of photorealism, but what you do get is a breezy, cute, colorful, and fun sandbox to explore. The animal friends are diverse and expressive without having a lot of physical facial expression, which is a testament to the writers' skill. This cartoonish game is uncomplicated in the best ways, and while there's a little stumbly-ness in some of the movement, it doesn't detract from this brisk, entertaining experience.”

“Little Kitty, Big City delivers on its two big promises. Taking the role of a kitty that encourages you to embrace the feline inside of you is never dull, especially when you go off to do your own this. The City is beautifully crafted and fun to explore, filled to the brim with people who have cell phones you can steal! There is a lot to love in here if you’re looking for an experience that is tranquil and worry-free.”

“I didn't want this game to be another Stray... Stray has much more dystopian themes. It's very realistic, both in art and in the possibilities of human life that it imagines the future to hold. Little Kitty, Big City doesn't have any of that darkness hanging overhead. The freedom that a modern and funny cat game gave its own artists really shows in the weird and wonderful things that the game includes. For example, you'll see humans that are so much taller than little kitty and have no clear faces, yet they can express joy and anger easily; other animals look more detailed than their surroundings, as if little kitty sees potential friends clearer than anything else.”
