How this score was computed
The VGC Score is a weighted blend on a press-comparable 0-100 quality scale. Steam approval rates are first calibrated (95% positive on Steam ≈ 89.5 quality, since Steam approval skews high). Press and tracked creator reviews each count ~2x a player review and share one cap against player evidence (creator buy/skip calls pool into an approval rate, calibrated like Steam approval); all-time sentiment is capped and halved (it's context, not verdict); reviews of the current build carry the most weight when a fresh patch anchors the window; and a 'typical game' prior keeps small samples from pegging the scale. Because press reviews and Metacritic user aggregates describe the launch build, their weight decays as the game ages (3-year half-life after a 1-year grace). That's how a game that launched rough can outgrow its old reception once updates win players over. Reviews under 2h playtime (the refund window), non-Steam activations, and free copies are downweighted.

“Bleeding Edge is currently a very raw game, a failed experiment and a free fantasy of a small group of people who for some reason were given the green light. A small number of main types of gaming activities, poor content and technical problems outweigh the bright characters with unique abilities, nice graphics and a pleasant soundtrack. However, the positive thing is that Bleeding Edge is unlikely to affect the really big next game from Ninja Theory, which we will all continue to wait for.”

“Bleeding Edge has one major mistake. It tries to be in the spotlight so badly, that it overlooks the fact, that this show already has its own stars. Even though concept of heroes shooters managed to compile in the good-looking way, Bleeding Edge proves, that good concept and potencial isn't enought without a good use. Heroes are interesting compliation of everything we've seen and maps are well-down spectacle. Gameplay is unfortunately chaos, specially without proper teammates, who would jump into crazy arenas alongside with you. Bleeding Edge is one huge gathering of great but also drained ideas bonded together with poor glue, which hold the game barely together.”

“Bleeding Edge suffers from poor content and lack of depth. But the worst thing, it is just no fun.”

“Slender launch content aside, Ninja Theory's first venture into competitive multiplayer ranks among the most joyously-frenzied brawlers of this generation.”

“Bleeding Edge has almost nothing to offer. What potential it has in it is woefully stuck in a product that is so meagre and void of content. It is like taking a single slice of cheese, and trying to cover an entire pizza pie; there just not enough here to make this work passed a few hours, and that's all. There are not enough modes, not enough interest in the community to keep it going, and the combat is way too simplistic for high level play.”

“A fun hero brawler that has a long way to live up to its potential”

“The Bleeding Edge game formula in the hero shooter style but with melee combat is original, it is fun, very direct and sometimes spectacular, although Ninja Theory does not quite find the key to be satisfactory throughout the game, perhaps by current game modes. It is to be expected that with the passage of time new content will arrive in the game, but currently it is very scarce with only three very generic game modes.”

“Bleeding Edge is fun to play, but it’s rather shallow in terms of content and has some performance issues.”

“With situations like that, there's certainly fun to be had in Bleeding Edge. The gameplay is solid, and I enjoyed my time with the title. It just needs more of ... everything: characters, game modes, maps, and skins. Microsoft and/or Ninja Theory certainly seem to be aware of this shortcoming, if the game's price tag is any indication. That doesn't change the fact that the game desperately needs more content if it wants to keep its audience; otherwise, Bleeding Edge's matches might not be so bloody in the very near future.”

“It’s not an experience I can recommend easily. Maybe if they worked on it, really gave it the old spit, shine, and polish and a handful more game modes, I would consider coming back. But as it stands now, it’s just not worth it.”

“Bleeding Edge could be on to something with meaningful updates, but at launch it's Xbox Game Pass filler at best.”

“Bleeding Edge blends third-person action with MOBA and hero-shooter mechanics to create an interesting but flawed action esport.”
