How this score was computed
The VGC Score is a weighted blend on a press-comparable 0-100 quality scale. Steam approval rates are first calibrated (95% positive on Steam ≈ 89.5 quality, since Steam approval skews high). Press and tracked creator reviews each count ~2x a player review and share one cap against player evidence (creator buy/skip calls pool into an approval rate, calibrated like Steam approval); all-time sentiment is capped and halved (it's context, not verdict); reviews of the current build carry the most weight when a fresh patch anchors the window; and a 'typical game' prior keeps small samples from pegging the scale. Because press reviews and Metacritic user aggregates describe the launch build, their weight decays as the game ages (3-year half-life after a 1-year grace). That's how a game that launched rough can outgrow its old reception once updates win players over. Reviews under 2h playtime (the refund window), non-Steam activations, and free copies are downweighted.
| Component | Positive | Quality (0-100) | Weight (pseudo-reviews) |

| Creator reviews (2 tracked) | – | 97 | 2 |
| All-time Steam reviews | 82% | 76 | 1000 |
| Metacritic user ratings | – | 74 | 200 |
| Post-patch Steam reviews (trust-weighted) | 75% | 71 | 3000 |
| Calibration prior (typical game) | – | 72 | 50 |

“Remnant II is a fine game, which unfortunately had its good impression spoiled by technical problems. Our adventure in Remnant II, by default, begins on Earth, which, after the events of its predecessor, was cut off from the Root invasion and, at this point, only the remnants remain. Remnant II is a fully randomly generated game. The order of our campaign is randomized, the layouts of the worlds are randomized, the bosses we meet are randomized and much, much more. This is the main appeal of the Remnant series, with each playthrough we find something new.”

“Remnant II is a great evolution of ideas from the first installment, making each adventure feel unique in its own way. It is one of the few Soulslike games with full co-op.”

“Remnant 2 accomplishes everything the game set out to do. It's an enjoyable FPS/RPG hybrid that improves on the solid foundation of the first installment without losing its identity. It's a great and fun title that can be played repeatedly and always a little differently, solo, with friends or strangers online, and simply enjoy the great atmosphere, fantastic music, and overall enjoyable dopamine-filled gameplay, just a shame about the worse optimization and a few graphical imperfections.”

“A great sequel with strong gameplay, diverse enemies, fun boss fights and satisfying shooting mechanics. It's a shame that the story is still mediocre, but other than that the game is worth your time.”

“With an astounding progression system and rich RPG elements, Remnant 2 elevates itself to heights that its predecessor never reached.”

“An amazing follow-up to “Remnant: From the Ashes”. Smooth gameplay paired with a great character building alongside some impressive bosses, setpieces and incredible locations. Remnant II is going to be one of those games I’ll be playing for years to come.”

“The first Remnant was surprisingly good, and we expected no less from the sequel. As it turns out, Remnant 2 is even more than that. It's a must-play for people in search of a true challenge.”

“Though there is enough in the margins to find fault with, Remnant II is still a sequel that only improves upon the first game. While the storytelling leaves a lot to be desired, the rest of the game receives an easy recommendation. Even the difficulty spikes and slower-than-desired rate of obtaining new weapons and upgrade materials can’t get in the way of a fun action RPG with solid combat, wide variety of play styles, and a bunch of secrets to uncover. It’s a positive step in the right direction for the series and makes me excited for what Gunfire Games will do next.”

“I can't get enough of Remnant 2. When I'm not playing, I'm often thinking about new upgrade paths, character builds, and play styles to explore while adventuring through Remnant 2's engaging worlds.”

“Remnant 2‘s just kind of got all the trappings necessary for me to keep sitting down for hours on end and drown the rest of the noise out in its cacophony of demon/robot/fae/rock-monster/evil village-slaying goodness.”

“I would have preferred to be granted new gear at a quicker pace and have more direct control over my build options in a first playthrough, but the positives otherwise coalesce into a very addicting (and fairly challenging) co-op shooter that’s difficult to put down.”

“Remnant 2 makes strides in the lesser-developed areas of its predecessor, to mostly great effect. While some sections have received less love than others, you're still bound to have a good time.”
