How this score was computed
The VGC Score is a weighted blend on a press-comparable 0-100 quality scale. Steam approval rates are first calibrated (95% positive on Steam ≈ 89.5 quality, since Steam approval skews high). Press and tracked creator reviews each count ~2x a player review and share one cap against player evidence (creator buy/skip calls pool into an approval rate, calibrated like Steam approval); all-time sentiment is capped and halved (it's context, not verdict); reviews of the current build carry the most weight when a fresh patch anchors the window; and a 'typical game' prior keeps small samples from pegging the scale. Because press reviews and Metacritic user aggregates describe the launch build, their weight decays as the game ages (3-year half-life after a 1-year grace). That's how a game that launched rough can outgrow its old reception once updates win players over. Reviews under 2h playtime (the refund window), non-Steam activations, and free copies are downweighted.
| Component | Positive | Quality (0-100) | Weight (pseudo-reviews) |

“Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl is a fun multiplayer 2D brawler that has a good combat system and gameplay for each character. Unfortunately, the game has a lot of problems, especially few game modes, the inability to play online, few characters, boring maps and a high price for what it offers. So it's up to you what you expect from the game, because if you're looking for a multiplayer fighting game, you have enough controllers and friends, and you want a space where you can fight each other with four players head to head, you'll enjoy the game. However, if you are a single-player player, looking for a game similar to Super Smash Bros, want to enjoy online matches, or try the ARCADE mode, this title is not for you. So I would recommend the game for a couch party with friends, but I would still prefer to wait until the developers add new playable characters or until there is a discount.”

“Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl is a solid platform fighter with an awful lot of hidden depth, and also an unfortunate lack of polish outside the fighting. If hardcore gameplay is the number one concern you'll have a wealth to sink your teeth into here, but expect to be underwhelmed by various elements that surround it. There's a grand old time to be had, but it's no Super Smash Bros. (damn it yet again).”

“This is one of those titles you walk into with at least a twinge of dread as a reviewer...”

“Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl is, well, fine. It will provide a good few hours of harmless fun and raise more than a few smiles in the nostalgia sector of the cortex as Reptar beats on April O'Neil. Underneath that initial sheen however is nothing of real interest. Thankfully, support seems to be very much active and maybe the initial issues will be focused on to provide a more well-rounded, in-depth experience. For now, though, the shadow of its inspiration looms heavy and ensures that this will not be challenging for any place in the top tier of party'esque fighters for some time.”

“If developers Ludosity and Fair Play Labs can stick with the game post-launch and build it up, it could end up being a completely different story in a year or so, but as it stands, Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl feels like the shell of what it could be.”

“We’ve seen a lot of Smash clones come and go over the years, very few with any staying power. All-Star Brawl feels like another flash in the pan, very much like opening the biggest box under the Christmas tree only to find a pair of socks inside.”

“Unfortunately, these issues make the product feel cheap, which does the quality of the actual fighting a tremendous disservice. Again, it’s the best Smash clone we’ve ever played, we just wish Nickelodeon had shown some confidence in it.”

“Nickelodeon All Star Brawl is a solid and very fast fighter that focuses its attention on delivering an experience that is competitive and fun. His faults are the lack of content, and the much-needed voice talent to bring to life the iconic roster of characters. All-Star Brawl can be improved but it seems that the game is not finished yet.”

“A fleshed out Nicktoons cast come together for a big brawl that leaves a lot to be desired.”

“Yes, the sheer hilarity of seeing Patrick Star beat up CatDog is still funny, but I don't think the lifespan of this game will increase over time. Watching all these fighters silently duke it out makes it feel like we're watching storyboards for a singular crossover episode. While that may entice you into watching the commercials, the final product just leaves all these popular properties feel compromised.”

“Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl is a platform fighting game that offers fun and good times with friends. Evaluated from this perspective the game delivers, and if this is what you are looking for, you will surely not regret it. However, this game could have been much better, especially in detail, fluidity and content. If you are able to look beyond its disappointing visual effects, or that its soundtrack is unoriginal, it may be that this game has something interesting to give you.”

“Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl is a solid alternative to Smash, and it is on basically every platform. It won’t overtake the king or even make it worried, but for the lower price (I have seen it on sale for sub $20) it is more than worth checking out. I had a ton of fun with it and just wish it had a bit more content and a bright future.”
