How this score was computed
The VGC Score is a weighted blend on a press-comparable 0-100 quality scale. Steam approval rates are first calibrated (95% positive on Steam ≈ 89.5 quality, since Steam approval skews high). Press and tracked creator reviews each count ~2x a player review and share one cap against player evidence (creator buy/skip calls pool into an approval rate, calibrated like Steam approval); all-time sentiment is capped and halved (it's context, not verdict); reviews of the current build carry the most weight when a fresh patch anchors the window; and a 'typical game' prior keeps small samples from pegging the scale. Because press reviews and Metacritic user aggregates describe the launch build, their weight decays as the game ages (3-year half-life after a 1-year grace). That's how a game that launched rough can outgrow its old reception once updates win players over. Reviews under 2h playtime (the refund window), non-Steam activations, and free copies are downweighted.
| Component | Positive | Quality (0-100) | Weight (pseudo-reviews) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Press reviews (Metacritic) | – | 77 | 18 |
| All-time Steam reviews | 87% | 81 | 228 |
| Metacritic user ratings | – | – | 0 |
| Post-patch Steam reviews (trust-weighted) | 67% | 65 | 1 |
| Calibration prior (typical game) | – | 72 | 50 |

“FixFox is a fun romp through an alien planet as a furry MacGyver, although the long playtime does make proceedings repetitive.”

“FixFox is a wonderful, peaceful adventure game from a one-person Czech studio, and its low-budget production is in no way evident. On the contrary, the developer has handled this challenge exceptionally well, and the game offers sufficiently long, suspenseful, and entertaining gameplay completely free of violence. Since this is a Czech title, the lack of a Czech localization is a bit of a letdown, and a few minor flaws slightly lower what is already a very good rating.”

“If the road to hell is paved with good intentions, the road to a boring video game is lined with safe design choices, and that really is FixFox’s problem.”

“Although there were some moments in the game where I felt frustrated with how little explanation about objectives in the game was given. But there was nothing more satisfying than having soup at the end of the day and going to sleep using a bedroll. Overall Fix Fox is supposed to be a relaxing game targeted at all age groups but its lack of explanation of objectives can sometimes make the experience an unpleasant one.”

“FixFox is a delightful title that manages to be a comfortable experience despite the at-times heavy themes. The self-fulfilling loop of repairing machines is the highlight, and it’s what you’ll be doing most, outside simple puzzles. Occasional unclear objectives, however, drag the experience down during specific moments. But once you get past FixFox’s quirks, it confidently takes you through a gentle, emotional ride.”

“Whatever FixFox may lack in size of its budget compared to what we consider a mainstream open world title, it has ten times that in charm and heart.”

“FixFox is an excellent adventure title that will make us live in the shoes of a space mechanic in a colorful, fun and well-made world in almost every aspect.”

“Before the fox finds a way to return home from the planet Caramel, you'll enjoy a relaxing adventure game with magical visuals and a violence-free story. It's just a shame that the game is disrupted by a stereotype at the end. [Issue#319]”

“FixFox is a mixed bag. On the one hand, it offers an exciting story and delivers its promise to tell this story in a way that does not lack the intensity it calls for. Still, on the other hand, there are certainly some issues that hinder the game from being more interesting than it is. It is pretty tedious and frustrating at times and fun and incredibly satisfying at some other times.”

“For a game created by just three people, Fixfox really does sparkle in so many ways. The pixel graphics are warm and beautiful, and the western themed soundtrack really captures the essence of the wholesome adventure. The story is a wonderfully written tale but the open world also has enough character for those who just want to take a look around. If you’re looking for an experience that’s comparable to drinking hot chocolate and eating cookies, this is it.”

“Fix Fox is a wonderfully unique Science Fiction world that makes a hero out of an unlikely character. The game has a charm with its cute characters, art style, and storyline.”

“FixFox is an exceptionally memorable puzzle adventure game. The characters and environments radiate a wholesome and positive energy, similar to something you’d see in a Pixar short. The gameplay is laid-back and enjoyable, though it does lack some substance in the puzzle solving sequences. If your interested in a game that will tug on your heart strings, or simply want something you can relax too, then I highly recommend you pick this up.”
