How this score was computed

The VGC Score is a weighted blend on a press-comparable 0-100 quality scale. Steam approval rates are first calibrated (95% positive on Steam ≈ 89.5 quality, since Steam approval skews high). Press and tracked creator reviews each count ~2x a player review and share one cap against player evidence (creator buy/skip calls pool into an approval rate, calibrated like Steam approval); all-time sentiment is capped and halved (it's context, not verdict); reviews of the current build carry the most weight when a fresh patch anchors the window; and a 'typical game' prior keeps small samples from pegging the scale. Because press reviews and Metacritic user aggregates describe the launch build, their weight decays as the game ages (3-year half-life after a 1-year grace). That's how a game that launched rough can outgrow its old reception once updates win players over. Reviews under 2h playtime (the refund window), non-Steam activations, and free copies are downweighted.

World of Tanks: HEAT is Wargaming's boldest project in years, a faster, team-focused reinvention that makes the agent system work, even if eight launch maps wear thin quickly.

World of Tanks: HEAT delivers a tense, explosive, and deeply rewarding multiplayer experience that understands exactly what tank warfare should feel like while looking at it through a more arcade lens.

World of Tanks: Heat successfully transforms tank combat into a fast-paced hero shooter with solid gameplay, strong maps, and impressive visuals. However, shallow worldbuilding, heavy grinding, limited content, and balance issues prevent it from becoming a long-term multiplayer obsession.

World of Tanks: Heat is a solid entry in the WoT franchise. The free-to-play model with premium paid options is a great way to bring new players into the fold and won’t risk pricing people out by costing an arm and a leg just to get started.

World of Tanks: Heat has a minimal amount of game modes at launch, which limits it a bit. But, with the inclusion of a hero shooter dynamic, the game feels great. It’s taking on something that can be niche even within the iconic genre.

World of Tanks: HEAT is not just another Wargaming title focused solely on military combat. Instead, it reaches out to players of games like League of Legends and various hero shooters. It has solid foundations but still needs some polishing to become a better game.

World of Tanks: HEAT is a step forward for Wargaming's famous free-to-play PvP franchise. From the cockpit of our tank, we'll face off against other players in a series of missions and maps designed for frenetic, fast-paced combat. Its new agents, with different classes and abilities, and the inclusion of 15 tanks offer a fresh take that improves on the traditional formula without losing sight of what matters most: the tanks. Rounding out the package are 8 maps and 4 game modes that, once you get the hang of them, make for an engaging and highly entertaining experience.

World of Tanks: HEAT successfully reinvents the franchise with fast-paced arcade combat, satisfying progression, and seamless cross-platform multiplayer, even if its launch content leaves room for future expansion.

World of Tanks: HEAT from developer Wargaming Group Limited is a good F2P game that offers fun modes, good customization, and a short stint of good MP matches. While the vanilla version of this game isn’t quite packed with a huge variety of modes, it still is a good way to have some dumb fun.

Turning World of Tanks into a hero shooter could have easily felt forced, but Wargaming has managed to create something that feels surprisingly natural once you’re actually in a match.

Wargaming’s attempt at a more broadly appealing World of Tanks game hits the target. It may be a little grindy, even by free-to-play standards, but it’s such a blast to play that you can probably overlook it while they (hopefully) continue to refine the in-game economy. An easy recommendation for competitive shooter fans.
