How this score was computed
The VGC Score is a weighted blend on a press-comparable 0-100 quality scale. Steam approval rates are first calibrated (95% positive on Steam ≈ 89.5 quality, since Steam approval skews high). Press and tracked creator reviews each count ~2x a player review and share one cap against player evidence (creator buy/skip calls pool into an approval rate, calibrated like Steam approval); all-time sentiment is capped and halved (it's context, not verdict); reviews of the current build carry the most weight when a fresh patch anchors the window; and a 'typical game' prior keeps small samples from pegging the scale. Because press reviews and Metacritic user aggregates describe the launch build, their weight decays as the game ages (3-year half-life after a 1-year grace). That's how a game that launched rough can outgrow its old reception once updates win players over. Reviews under 2h playtime (the refund window), non-Steam activations, and free copies are downweighted.
| Component | Positive | Quality (0-100) | Weight (pseudo-reviews) |

| Metacritic user ratings | – | – | 0 |
| Post-patch Steam reviews (trust-weighted) | 90% | 84 | 4 |

“Crymachina boasts a dark, imposing world populated by monstrous machine enemies that uses classic sci-fi themes to examine deep existential questions. However, it doesn't offer you any agency through a story that is unsatisfyingly similar to the studio's last game.”

“CRYMACHINA is a decent story wrapped up in some truly boring gameplay and a cheap overall look. The combat is monotonous, the difficulty simply isn’t there, and the level design is just awful.”

“Crymachina is like the RC Cola of action RPGs; it'll do if you're desperate for something to satisfy your craving, but it'd be tough to argue that it's anyone's top choice. The so-bad-it's-good story and fast-paced combat ultimately make this one worth the punt, but the game's overreliance on repetition wears off its sheen before too long. We'd give Crymachina a light recommendation to any fans of FuRyu's previous work or anyone looking for a low-investment action RPG that's all style and little substance. Crymachina is a decent outing, but you may want to wait for a reasonably deep sale on this one.”

“Crymachina is continually plagued by its imbalance. It takes too much work to get to the good of Crymachina and only those desperately itching for a sci-fi action RPG will enjoy completing it. It’s a shame because the concept it uses to explore humanity is an interesting one, but too many issues dampen its emotional punch.”

“Crymachina is a charming JRPG title that has quite a lot of polish. It’s certainly a step above some of the other FuRyu Corporation titles out there. Yes, there’s a layer of jank to the game but it’s remarkably enjoyable. The cast of characters are all likeable and grow on you as you play and there’s enough humour mixed in too to keep things fresh despite the dark themes present in the game. Give this game a try if you’re a fan of JRPGs with simplistic battle systems and a focus on storytelling. Chances are you will really enjoy it! Crymachina therefore gets a solid recommendation from me.”

“Undeniably stylish combat mixes with a philosophical sci-fi narrative asking what it means to be human… or something like that”

“The game has a fairly short runtime (by RPG standards) of around 25-30 hours, but even then it soon begins to outstay its welcome. It’s a shame as the story really is intriguing to begin with, but after fighting your way through lots of tedious dungeons and doing the same attacks over and over again, you’ll find it hard to care about humanity’s fate.”

“Crymachina offers a cybernetic futuristic world with excellent action-based combat. Though it loses itself in the weeds with its plot, it delivers nonstop fun.”

“Crymachina is full of compelling character design, dialogue, worldbuilding, and music. Despite the game's quirks and balancing, it can provide plenty of kinetic action RPG thrills.”

“Although a few issues can mar the overall enjoyment, CRYMACHINA is nevertheless an enjoyable tale of reincarnated humans and their struggle to define what it is to be a "real human". Slick, responsive combat and a fantastic musical score make this a title you shouldn't overlook.”

“CRYMACHINA has a promising story and a fresh aesthetic, but the presentation leaves so much to be desired. Convoluted and rushed world-building makes it hard to get invested, and the basic and repetitive combat encounters make it hard not to feel like the loop between gameplay and story is more of a chore than it's worth.”
