How this score was computed
The VGC Score is a weighted blend on a press-comparable 0-100 quality scale. Steam approval rates are first calibrated (95% positive on Steam ≈ 89.5 quality, since Steam approval skews high). Press and tracked creator reviews each count ~2x a player review and share one cap against player evidence (creator buy/skip calls pool into an approval rate, calibrated like Steam approval); all-time sentiment is capped and halved (it's context, not verdict); reviews of the current build carry the most weight when a fresh patch anchors the window; and a 'typical game' prior keeps small samples from pegging the scale. Because press reviews and Metacritic user aggregates describe the launch build, their weight decays as the game ages (3-year half-life after a 1-year grace). That's how a game that launched rough can outgrow its old reception once updates win players over. Reviews under 2h playtime (the refund window), non-Steam activations, and free copies are downweighted.

“Eriksholm: The Stolen Dream is a pleasant surprise from start to finish, offering an isometric stealth experience reminiscent of '90s classics, but with modern visuals and narrative. The game stands out for its engaging story of protagonist Hanna, who must rescue her brother in an Art Nouveau-inspired city, and for its gameplay that prioritizes stealth and clever use of the environment. Despite its linear gameplay and challenges, the progressive difficulty and richly detailed environment make it a highly recommended experience.”

“Eriksholm: The Stolen Dream is a beautiful and polished stealth game that excels as a meticulously designed puzzle. If you’re looking for creative freedom and sandbox-style options, you’ll be sorely disappointed by its strict linearity. However, if you want a superbly crafted game, a story with layers of subplots, and brilliant puzzles, this is the one for you. For a debut from a new studio, this is an unexpectedly mature and impressive title, and who knows, maybe the North isn’t just about Vikings.”

“If you’re still asking yourself: should I play Eriksholm, hear me out, it is definitely worth it. Even if stealth games are not your cup of tea, the cut-scenes alone (all the way to a very satisfying finale) are worth the price of admission. And we will definitely hear more about the talented crew at River End Games.”

“Eriksholm: The Stolen Dream presents us with a complex and grand puzzle that will make us think for a while as we discover what initially seems like a simple story that becomes increasingly tangled as we progress. The approximately 12-hour duration has very good pacing that ensures we never get bored, and it implements various mechanics typical of a stealth game that are divided among different characters who must spread out through different routes to position themselves perfectly to advance toward the final objective.”

“Eriksholm: The Stolen Dream is a focused and elegant stealth experience that values planning over action. It doesn't try to reinvent the genre but succeeds in delivering a cohesive, immersive, and emotionally grounded game. If you enjoy tension over spectacle, this one deserves your attention.”

“If you're a fan of stealth games with a classic structure, narrative focus, and well-structured mechanics, Eriksholm: The Stolen Dream is definitely worth your attention.”

“Eriksholm: The Stolen Dream features plenty of memorable characters you’d want to follow to the end, and its gorgeous, lived-in world is a standout. Unfortunately, the stealth mechanics never impress and feel too basic. It’s clear the game is more invested in its narrative than in giving players the freedom to outsmart enemies on their terms, making for a memorable story-driven experience but a mechanically shallow one.”

“The more focused second half saves Eriksholm from oblivion. For a game clocking around 10 hours, it takes too long to get going and put all its cards on the table.”
