How this score was computed
The VGC Score is a weighted blend on a press-comparable 0-100 quality scale. Steam approval rates are first calibrated (95% positive on Steam ≈ 89.5 quality, since Steam approval skews high). Press and tracked creator reviews each count ~2x a player review and share one cap against player evidence (creator buy/skip calls pool into an approval rate, calibrated like Steam approval); all-time sentiment is capped and halved (it's context, not verdict); reviews of the current build carry the most weight when a fresh patch anchors the window; and a 'typical game' prior keeps small samples from pegging the scale. Because press reviews and Metacritic user aggregates describe the launch build, their weight decays as the game ages (3-year half-life after a 1-year grace). That's how a game that launched rough can outgrow its old reception once updates win players over. Reviews under 2h playtime (the refund window), non-Steam activations, and free copies are downweighted.

Forza Horizon 6 is the best open-world racing game available right now, a franchise peak for the Horizon series that delivers on the Japan setting with a map that rewards every hour you put into exploration, Touge Battles that add genuine racing depth, and a multiplayer ecosystem that is chaotically alive in exactly the way the franchise has always done best. The monetisation structure is a legitimate grievance and the franchise formula hasn’t fundamentally evolved, but when the formula is this well-executed in this setting, those criticisms feel like footnotes rather than dealbreakers. The cars feel great, Japan looks extraordinary, and online is BowieKnife99 dependent.”

“Forza Horizon 6 is the most comprehensive installment in the series to date. It’s a wonderful evolution of the familiar formula, though unfortunately there are no groundbreaking innovations here. The crown of the king of racing games shows no sign of slipping from Forza’s head, but the competition is hot on its heels. If, with the release of the seventh installment, you continue to play it safe, avoid taking risks, and don’t try something new, then next time, mere evolution and refinement of existing formulas might not be enough. Nevertheless, my final assessment of Forza Horizon 6 hasn’t changed one bit. It’s not just an excellent racing game, but an excellent game period. Forza Horizon 6 is a masterpiece in the world of racing games.”

“Our journey to Japan came full of passion and dazzling details; as Playground Games studio managed to maintain the series' identity and richness, by providing more diverse and exciting races that grant players a renewed and enjoyable experience all the time. The team also excelled in designing a massive and captivating world pulsing with life, full of breathtaking scenes and enchanting atmospheres that make its exploration a pleasure in itself. The quality of the experience was not limited to that only, but was also supported by a strong technical level, dazzling graphics, and meticulous sound design that enhanced the sense of immersion and made the experience unforgettable, despite the existence of some noticeable similarities with the previous installment.”

PlayGround Games has found the perfect formula for a service game, one that consistently attracts millions of racing fans with sheer numbers, offering them a comfortable experience with plenty of engaging activities. For the sake of this, they've had to sacrifice even the slightest hint of boldness. Still, the aging foundation is beginning to sag.”

“For anyone looking for an open-world racing game that guarantees fun, boasts incredible graphics and offers gameplay that strikes a good balance between arcade-style action and realism, the truth is that there are no real alternatives on the market. If you enjoyed the previous instalment, Forza Horizon 6 is a safe bet, provided you’re aware that there’s not much in the way of new features. There was potential to better capture the essence of JDM culture, but even with these shortcomings, it remains a highly appealing game that will steal dozens of hours from you.”
