How this score was computed
The VGC Score is a weighted blend on a press-comparable 0-100 quality scale. Steam approval rates are first calibrated (95% positive on Steam ≈ 89.5 quality, since Steam approval skews high). Press and tracked creator reviews each count ~2x a player review and share one cap against player evidence (creator buy/skip calls pool into an approval rate, calibrated like Steam approval); all-time sentiment is capped and halved (it's context, not verdict); reviews of the current build carry the most weight when a fresh patch anchors the window; and a 'typical game' prior keeps small samples from pegging the scale. Because press reviews and Metacritic user aggregates describe the launch build, their weight decays as the game ages (3-year half-life after a 1-year grace). That's how a game that launched rough can outgrow its old reception once updates win players over. Reviews under 2h playtime (the refund window), non-Steam activations, and free copies are downweighted.

Joe and enjoy street fighting games from the arcades and 8- and 16-bit consoles, and enjoy some casual fun, especially in local co-op with friends, Wrath of Cobra might be worth checking out. However, if you're hoping for a beat 'em up with more innovation, polish, and depth, you might want to wait for a sale.”

“As I said before, in the year of our Lord 2024 the fact that THIS is the G.I. Joe game that we get just feels bad. While G.I. Joe: Wrath of Cobra isnt a terrible game, its not a very fun one to interact with. From floaty combat to its subpar boss battles, I couldn’t help but think that this game was capable of so much more. Even with unlockable content to chase adding some replayability to the game, the real question is if gamers or even fans should bother playing this one at all.”

“G.I.Joe: Wrath of Cobra aims first and foremost to have fun. It creates a nostalgic atmosphere with its 80s-style animations. In addition, it captures the spirit of the best beat'em ups and overstates the challenge on higher difficulty levels. Above all, however, it is a game for every generation. It is worth giving it a chance.”

“G.I. Joe: Wrath of Cobra is a fun game, but it is also flawed in several different ways. The differences in characters provide some incentive to try out everyone, but the combat is plagued with issues in every category. The unlockables are fun, but you have to be able to stomach the grinding needed to unlock everything. The levels are nice but feel like they go on forever; the presentation is good if you can ignore some of the audio issues. Depending on the price, Wrath of Cobra might still be worth checking out for big G.I. Joe fans, but it also could've been so much better.”

It's not a bad game, it's not a good game, it's just an uninspiring grey mediocrity that you'll forget about five minutes after you finish it, if you force yourself to finish it at all.”

“G.I. Joe: Wrath of Cobra is a trip down memory lane for for 80s G.I. Joe fans with familiar characters and locations in a beat-em-up style game. You can choose from 4 G.I. Joe heroes each with their own abilities as you fight through levels full of Cobra bad guys. The game captures the heart of the franchise with bright graphics and music but the gameplay can get repetitive and some combat mechanics are frustrating. Still, Wrath of Cobra is a fun and budget friendly ride for G.I. Joe fans.”
