How this score was computed

The VGC Score is a weighted blend on a press-comparable 0-100 quality scale. Steam approval rates are first calibrated (95% positive on Steam ≈ 89.5 quality, since Steam approval skews high). Press and tracked creator reviews each count ~2x a player review and share one cap against player evidence (creator buy/skip calls pool into an approval rate, calibrated like Steam approval); all-time sentiment is capped and halved (it's context, not verdict); reviews of the current build carry the most weight when a fresh patch anchors the window; and a 'typical game' prior keeps small samples from pegging the scale. Because press reviews and Metacritic user aggregates describe the launch build, their weight decays as the game ages (3-year half-life after a 1-year grace). That's how a game that launched rough can outgrow its old reception once updates win players over. Reviews under 2h playtime (the refund window), non-Steam activations, and free copies are downweighted.

Scott Pilgrim EX is a phenomenal, bite-sized brawler that respects the legacy of its source material while actively improving upon the mechanical flaws of its predecessor. The combat is fluid, the interconnected map is a joy to explore, and the Anamanaguchi soundtrack is predictably god-tier. While the $28.99 asking price might feel a bit steep for a 4-hour campaign, the sheer replayability offered by the diverse roster of characters and the 4-player co-op makes it a worthy addition to any Steam library. Just be sure to manually save your game before jumping into an online lobby until Tribute Games deploys a patch.

Tribute Games brings Scott Pilgrim back in a game featuring stunning visuals, a fantastic soundtrack, and all the magic of the comics packed into a rock-solid beat 'em up. It’s a game that puts a smile on your face, just like going to a concert by your favorite band. Scott and Sex Bob-omb hit all the right notes to earn a standing ovation.

It's easy to get retro fatigue when every month brings another wave of throwbacks. Scott Pilgrim EX, however, is a reminder of why this genre became so popular in the first place. The spirit and execution come together in a way that feels fresh rather than forced. There's real pick-up-and-play value here, whether you're going solo or just messing around with friends. You don't even need to be a fan of Scott Pilgrim to enjoy it. After all, getting a bunch of friends together to battle the forces of evil with martial arts and giant turnips is about as universal as it gets.

Scott Pilgrim EX delivers a chaotic retro-inspired adventure packed with time travel, alternate dimensions, and countless nods to classic arcade games. Its stylish pixel art, varied soundtrack, co-op gameplay, and diverse cast make for an entertaining beat-'em-up experience, though repetitive enemy waves before bosses and occasional combat frustrations hold it back from true greatness.

Scott Pilgrim EX is a solid beat ’em up, featuring inspired art direction and a technical combat system clearly designed for multiplayer evenings with friends. On the downside, sluggish movement and some glitches slow down the action, while the mission structure tends to become repetitive after a few hours. If you love the world of Scott Pilgrim and retro-style beat ’em ups, however, you’ll find EX to be an entertaining adventure.

While this return to the Pilgrimverse offers longtime fans only narrative crumbs, its brawls are first-rate.

Raging Scottaholics will love this title to death just for all the nods and references, with special props to the developers for their attention to detail. Fans of beat-em-ups and gaming will find a lot to adore here, as it's basically a revved-up role-playing beat-em-up hybrid ala River City Ransom on steroids and pop culture nod overloads.

If you loved Scott Pilgrim vs The World: The Game, then Scott Pilgrim EX is basically the sequel you’ve been waiting fifteen years for. I don’ think it quite stands at the top of the modern retro brawler renaissance, but it’s pretty damn close.

Scott Pilgrim EX is an explosive beat-em-up with upto seven unique characters to go on an adventure with, either solo or with up to 4 people. This fresh take on the original franchise is a refreshing experience and is an absolute joy for any retro fan at first glance. The non-stop action and fighting will keep you hooked throughout your journey, and the OSTs are an instant hit. The story itself might be very forgettable, and is barely 5-6 hours long. At the outrageous price of ₹2,000, we highly recommend waiting for a sale.
