How this score was computed
The VGC Score is a weighted blend on a press-comparable 0-100 quality scale. Steam approval rates are first calibrated (95% positive on Steam ≈ 89.5 quality, since Steam approval skews high). Press and tracked creator reviews each count ~2x a player review and share one cap against player evidence (creator buy/skip calls pool into an approval rate, calibrated like Steam approval); all-time sentiment is capped and halved (it's context, not verdict); reviews of the current build carry the most weight when a fresh patch anchors the window; and a 'typical game' prior keeps small samples from pegging the scale. Because press reviews and Metacritic user aggregates describe the launch build, their weight decays as the game ages (3-year half-life after a 1-year grace). That's how a game that launched rough can outgrow its old reception once updates win players over. Reviews under 2h playtime (the refund window), non-Steam activations, and free copies are downweighted.

| Metacritic user ratings | – | – | 0 |
| Post-patch Steam reviews (trust-weighted) | 90% | 84 | 1501 |

“Even the original Lollipop Chainsaw, despite its commercial success, is a game aimed at a specific audience. This is even more true of the remaster, subtitled RePOP, as the design elements used have drifted even further from today’s mainstream standards after twelve years. If that isn’t a major issue for you and you’re drawn to the campy, grindhouse aesthetic, you still have a good chance of having a decent time. The technical execution of the new version, however, is a disappointment, as it currently introduces new problems rather than satisfactorily resolving the old ones.”

“Lollipop Chainsaw RePop's zombie-killing mayhem is just as childish, stupid and fun as it was in 2012. This remaster brings with it a streamlined experience and decent visual polish. Unfortunately, RePop suffers from poor optimisation, lapsed musical licenses and an extra mode that brings nothing new to the table. If you can, seek out the original.”

“Don't get us wrong, Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP is a fun fling from start to finish but it was never really a role model student when it arrived on the scene in 2012. Despite the enhancements and improvements in this latest release, the core gameplay and level design can feel quite outdated at times, and the chapter-breaking bugs have been hard to look past. If Dragami's updates resolve these glitches, or you're just a longtime fan of this one, maybe consider giving the zombie slayer an extra star for her efforts.”

“All in all, Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP is still a blast. The title continues to be one of SUDA51's most entertaining works, closing the magical trifecta (in my opinion) with No More Heroes and Shadows of the Damned.”

“This is still a laugh out loud affair, though; a raucous and utterly ludicrous release that deserves to exist on modern hardware. But when the source material is this brilliant, it deserves an exceptional remaster, rather than one that’s just good enough.”

“If you enjoy dark humor and absurd comedy, I think you should give this game a chance.”

“I can’t imagine anyone giving Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP less than a solid 7/10. It’s an absolute blast, full of over-the-top violence and vulgar humor, and it doesn’t shy away from that label. The only real way to experience it is through Original Mode, where all the gore, crude language, and wild themes are fully intact. It’s a game that throws caution to the wind, ignoring the usual “appropriate” narrative structures common discourse seems to think are always required to fully embrace its campy, chaotic vibe.”

“Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP is a trip back in time for those who played the original game. I felt like I was taken back 12 years while following Juliet's journey on my Xbox 360. With an extremely faithful version, RePOP brings the qualities, but also the stumbles of what was created back in 2012, and it will hardly change what you thought of the original game. The work, which is completely self-aware of what it wants to be, delivers genuine and uncompromising fun to those who embrace its madness.”

“If you can’t get your hands on the original version of Lollipop Chainsaw and you’re very desperate for zombie hunting with panty shots, get OneeChanbara Origin. Maybe if the developer patches things up, RePop might be as awesome as it should be. The missing music will always loom over this port, but is it even Lollipop Chainsaw anymore without it?”

“Lollipop Chainsaw: RePOP is a vibrant, bloody, and sexy hack-and-slash game that is nothing short of a ton of fun. A few disappointing story moments and clunky gameplay moments aside, it’s a great adventure that feels rewarding and addictive at the same time.”

“Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP aims to recapture the fun of the original game but falls short in several areas. Some gameplay elements feel outdated, with repetitive stages and lackluster boss fights. The visuals have improved, but issues like inconsistent textures and bugs, such as character models vibrating or freezing, detract from the experience. While RePOP offers laughs and a quirky style, you are best to wait for an update to be released to fix these issues before diving in.”
