How this score was computed

The VGC Score is a weighted blend on a press-comparable 0-100 quality scale. Steam approval rates are first calibrated (95% positive on Steam ≈ 89.5 quality, since Steam approval skews high). Press and tracked creator reviews each count ~2x a player review and share one cap against player evidence (creator buy/skip calls pool into an approval rate, calibrated like Steam approval); all-time sentiment is capped and halved (it's context, not verdict); reviews of the current build carry the most weight when a fresh patch anchors the window; and a 'typical game' prior keeps small samples from pegging the scale. Because press reviews and Metacritic user aggregates describe the launch build, their weight decays as the game ages (3-year half-life after a 1-year grace). That's how a game that launched rough can outgrow its old reception once updates win players over. Reviews under 2h playtime (the refund window), non-Steam activations, and free copies are downweighted.

Monument Valley 3 continues to deliver the classic zen-like gameplay experience characterized by its striking visuals and captivating puzzles, albeit hampered by a limited amount of content and less-than-intuitive control mechanics.

Monument Valley 3’s brevity does not diminish how much the series has evolved over the years. Its intricate level designs, paired with a spellbinding soundtrack, continue to captivate its niche playerbase and anyone who enjoys puzzlers. For $20, you can experience how UsTwo has mastered the art of perspective, shapes, and sound, delivering one of gaming’s most beautiful and memorable puzzle adventures.

Monument Valley 3 is a beautifully crafted point-and-click puzzle game that stays faithful to its predecessors. While it excels in nearly every aspect, the lack of touchscreen support is a noticeable omission. Still, it offers a brief but engaging experience, highly recommended for fans of puzzle games and the series.

Monument Valley has never been about difficulty. These games are more about presence than challenge, more about feeling than frustration. Monument Valley 3 continues that philosophy while pushing its boundaries outward. It doesn’t reinvent the formula entirely, but it evolves it in quiet, confident ways. As a standalone experience, it offers a deeply satisfying journey filled with moments of awe. As part of the series, it represents a thoughtful growth that respects its past while seeking new shores.

Monument Valley 3 is definitely the apex of this experience, standing out as the best game in the franchise so far. Full of personality and with a remarkable, touching visual, and, even though it still has some small issues, it delivers a powerful artistic experience, one of those you need to experience yourself.

Monument Valley 3 captivates with its stunning art direction, dreamlike settings, and an accessible design that invites contemplation. Noor's journey is engaging and filled with creative puzzles, though simpler and more predictable compared to previous titles. While it introduces new ideas, such as boat navigation, the game doesn't take many risks in terms of innovation and variety. With a brief campaign and linear solutions, the experience is welcoming, but it leaves the impression that it could have gone further in terms of depth and challenge.

Monument Valley III returns in widescreen format, offering a top-tier artistic experience, despite an overall duration that may be too short to be fully rewarded. The absence of the promised DLC at launch is disappointing, as it is now expected to arrive in winter 2025 along with a substantial, yet unspecified, update. Despite this, we warmly recommend it.
