How this score was computed

The VGC Score is a weighted blend on a press-comparable 0-100 quality scale. Steam approval rates are first calibrated (95% positive on Steam ≈ 89.5 quality, since Steam approval skews high). Press and tracked creator reviews each count ~2x a player review and share one cap against player evidence (creator buy/skip calls pool into an approval rate, calibrated like Steam approval); all-time sentiment is capped and halved (it's context, not verdict); reviews of the current build carry the most weight when a fresh patch anchors the window; and a 'typical game' prior keeps small samples from pegging the scale. Because press reviews and Metacritic user aggregates describe the launch build, their weight decays as the game ages (3-year half-life after a 1-year grace). That's how a game that launched rough can outgrow its old reception once updates win players over. Reviews under 2h playtime (the refund window), non-Steam activations, and free copies are downweighted.

Like yesterday's pizza that just doesn't taste the same when heated up in the microwave, Ninja Pizza Girl is a decent game that doesn't excel in any area. The story has a nice sentiment but is loaded with cheese, while the physics and controls occasionally make you slip off platforms in tense moments. On the ninja front, the graphics and enemy placements can cause you to bump into obstacles and kill your flow, while the collectibles feel out of place. You could certainly do a lot worse than Ninja Pizza Girl, and we can't call it a bad game. For its launch price, however, it's just too bland to recommend. You might want to give it a try if you're hankering for a fast-paced platformer, but there are better deliveries elsewhere on the eShop.

There is sadly almost nothing to like about Ninja Pizza Girl.

Ninja Pizza Girl showed a lot of promise. The gameplay was solid enough, a lot of the music choices were great, and there were funny and quirky ideas. Unfortunately, the game frustrated me in several other areas. While the game had many rough edges, I still saw charm and effort put forth by Disparity Games.

Ninja Pizza Girl is an interesting blend of platforming, parkour and awareness towards bullying that brings some interesting gameplay mechanics but seems to forget some of its message that ends up being somehow set aside. While the visual environment and soundtrack feel disappointing, not to mention the lack of variety of the levels, this is still an interesting, welcome and fun game.

I think Ninja Pizza Girl is a game brimming with presentation and style. It does things differently here and there making it a great experience. What holds the game back a bit are its controls that feel somewhat unresponsive, for a game that requires precise controls, that is something that needs to be addressed (hopefully witch a patch), but in the end, it wasn't a deal breaker. I had fun doing my Ninja Pizza Girl review, and I would recommend that you play this one.

What's truly unique about Ninja Pizza Girl is its emphasis on conveying an anti-bullying message

I've played a lot of platformers this year, but Ninja Pizza Girl is part of the 10% that truly excels beyond the genre's typical conventions. It's story is enthralling, funny, and amiable, and the same goes for the gameplay and even replay value. Even after completing the game, there's still a whole lot to love and go through again.

Overall, Ninja Pizza Girl is a mechanically solid platformer that tackles difficult themes reasonably well. I want to applaud the developers for addressing these issues, but must also point out that gameplay occasionally suffers as a result. I am still happy to recommend the game, though the problems mentioned above mean it is a far from flawless experience.

Ninja Pizza Girl is an effective exploration of bullying and self-esteem told through gameplay mechanics that are simple enough for a wide audience, but that can offer some challenge to platforming fans as well.

The one thing I loved about the game the most is the way it tries to address bullying. Bullying comes in all forms, be it physical, verbal or mental, online bullying is a very bad thing as well. I liked what the team tried to achieve, and I hope the game helps in some small way. Even if the game just reaches one child and changes his/her life, then it will be a job well done. What did you think of my Ninja Pizza Girl review? Let me know in the comments below!

Ninja Pizza Girl is a fine little 2D platformer with a personality all of its own, a good sense of humour, and a strong message to share. It feels at home on console, played on the big screen television and with a controller in hand, and Disparity Games has on its hands an IP that deserves continued development into the future.

Ninja Pizza Girl is a great experience due in equal parts to its great story and its good gameplay mechanics that encourage replayability and offer enough incentives to explore the pretty big levels. Some moments might not be up to par, but for the most part, you'll have a blast blazing across the rooftops and delivering pizza to others.
