How this score was computed
The VGC Score is a weighted blend on a press-comparable 0-100 quality scale. Steam approval rates are first calibrated (95% positive on Steam ≈ 89.5 quality, since Steam approval skews high). Press and tracked creator reviews each count ~2x a player review and share one cap against player evidence (creator buy/skip calls pool into an approval rate, calibrated like Steam approval); all-time sentiment is capped and halved (it's context, not verdict); reviews of the current build carry the most weight when a fresh patch anchors the window; and a 'typical game' prior keeps small samples from pegging the scale. Because press reviews and Metacritic user aggregates describe the launch build, their weight decays as the game ages (3-year half-life after a 1-year grace). That's how a game that launched rough can outgrow its old reception once updates win players over. Reviews under 2h playtime (the refund window), non-Steam activations, and free copies are downweighted.

“Even for those who have never seen an episode of Naruto, Ultimate Ninja Storm 4 is an extremely competent and captivating game. Its stunning visuals, solid combat system and quality voice acting make it one of the best, if not the best, games based on the Naruto universe. For fans, it's a must-have. For newcomers, it's an excellent entry point.”

“The Ultimate Ninja Storm series has absolutely peaked with its fourth installment, with the largest roster to date and beautiful, smooth graphics. CyberConnect2 has created such an impressive visual style, we wouldn't mind them making a season or two of the anime.”

“Naruto Shippuden Ultimate Ninja Storm 4 is the best homage so far to Masashi Kishimoto's manga, even better than the anime itself. One of the best 3D games ever seen, a must for Naruto's adventures fans.”

“Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 4 is easily one of the best entries in the series, and is arguably one of the greatest anime fighters to be released in some time. CyberConnect2's flair for creating stunning action scenarios is at its brightest in the game's superb story mode, but even when it's over, a hefty amount of content, both online and offline, and a thoroughly enjoyable, reworked combat system will see fans through well into the future. The storm may be about to pass with this final instalment, but there's no denying that it's provided one heck of a light show.”

“Despite a great and exciting gameplay, Ultimate Ninja Storm 4 has a weak story. Using anime's original voice actors and great music are the strong points of the game but online problems is unacceptable for a 4th installment of a franchise.”

“Thanks to its simple mechanics and storytelling, Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 4 becomes the greatest anime game ever made. You will enjoy it from beginning to end. It may not have enough balance to be an EVO game, but fans will love it for its outstanding fanservice.”

“Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm 4 is an average but reasonable send-off to the franchise. It's not a game for casual fans who will probably be lost in the story of random villains and long-running plots, but those who've followed Naruto from start to will be pleased to see the stylish finish to the series. The gameplay isn't enough to justify upgrading from the previous game in the series, and even longtime fans may want to wait for a price drop before jumping in.”

“Naruto Shippuden Ultimate Ninja Storm 4 is solid, both in gameplay and narrative. It has been a long time since a fighting game has been this fun for me.”

“Naruto Shippuden Ultimate Ninja Storm 4 is the perfect way to enjoy Naruto's ending. CyberConnect2 has done an amazing job with both the Story Mode and the combat system, creating a fun and entertaining experience. Most of the story isn't in the game, though, and that's really bad. We'd love to play all of Naruto's tale in this gorgeous way.”

“Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 4 is a great-looking, fast-paced anime fighting game that remains true to its roots for better and for worse.”

“I'm no expert on Naruto, but even I became a fan after playing through Ultimate Ninja Storm 4. There's so much effort put into the presentation alone that it's hard not to be engaged, and the gameplay (while simple) allows you to play across a massive roster of characters for some really cool looking and feeling battles.”

“Tying up the final chapters of the Shippuden story in a fun and flashy fashion, Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 4 really is the ultimate Naruto game. Every character, and every battle, is present in some form. The peak of the Ultimate Ninja Storm series.”
