How this score was computed
The VGC Score is a weighted blend on a press-comparable 0-100 quality scale. Steam approval rates are first calibrated (95% positive on Steam ≈ 89.5 quality, since Steam approval skews high). Press and tracked creator reviews each count ~2x a player review and share one cap against player evidence (creator buy/skip calls pool into an approval rate, calibrated like Steam approval); all-time sentiment is capped and halved (it's context, not verdict); reviews of the current build carry the most weight when a fresh patch anchors the window; and a 'typical game' prior keeps small samples from pegging the scale. Because press reviews and Metacritic user aggregates describe the launch build, their weight decays as the game ages (3-year half-life after a 1-year grace). That's how a game that launched rough can outgrow its old reception once updates win players over. Reviews under 2h playtime (the refund window), non-Steam activations, and free copies are downweighted.

“Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3 is a failed attempt to make a clone of Far Cry with a focus on sniper battles. The game was drowned in bugs, stupid plot, superfluous mechanics and boring gameplay.”

“CI Games's latest, Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3, puts the player's courage and tolerance to the test.”

“While moving to an open-world worked for the likes of Ghost Recon Wildlands, and Forza, Sniper Ghost Warrior 3 feels like it made the switch in order to classify as a current generation game, than an actual necessity.”

“But the worst thing of all is that I wanted to like Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3. I can’t even bring myself to say it’s a bad game, as such, because underneath the problems there’s something genuinely fun and enjoyable just waiting to burst free, or in this case shuffle out in slightly embarrassed fashion once City Interactive has put out a few patches.”

“Despite still being mired with an unhealthy assortment of technical hiccups and a paper thin narrative that feels like a rejected Call of Duty plot line, there is still fun to be mined out of Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3 but it's entirely dependent on an individual's tolerance of the occasional glitch.”

“Sniper Ghost Warrior 3 is not a bad game, but it does feel like a big budget, B-tier game that has unfortunately been released a bit too early. With an ambitious open-world combined with rewarding sniping, it’s easy to pick up and play. But for those seeking a deeper, more refined experience you may need to look further afield as Sniper Ghost Warrior 3's lackluster combat and bland world often leave you wanting something just a little bit more.”

“Sniper Ghost Warrior 3 is an entertaining open world first person shooter marred by poor voice acting and a myriad of technical issues. CI Games’ latest release shows a lot of promise but it needs work before I can give it a glowing recommendation.”

“Sniper Ghost Warrior 3 is not a good game and it can only entertain people who love Sniper games for a little while. Problems such as technical bugs which prevent you from finishing a mission plus bad directing of cinematic scenes are visible throughout the game. Unfortunately the voice acting of the characters is also weak. If I wanted to spend 50 dollars on a game, Sniper Ghost Warrior 3 wouldn't be my choice at all.”

“During an opening splash screen, an ethereal voiceover tells you that Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3 was "Achieved with Cry-Engine". However, while playing the game, we failed to realise at all what was achieved. Some moderately entertaining combat aside, the release takes too liberally from other, better titles. Technical issues are the final nail in the coffin, making it interesting to see a game aim so low, yet still manage to miss its mark entirely.”

“Sniper Ghost Warrior 3 is a compendium of poorly executed good intentions, and although it could teach a few things to AAA developers in terms of design and variety of levels, lack of quality in key aspects of development plays against it.”

“Sniper Ghost Warrior 3 lacks a level of polish that you could expect at this price. You can’t help but notice some issues that really need to patched. However, stopping at that would take away from the enjoyable sniping there is to be found in the game. If you enjoy this genre, Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3 can still offer many hours of single player excitement, as long as you can get past the technical issues.”

“There are a lot of cool ideas here; the crafting system for example is robust and interesting, but it doesn't make up for all the issues the game has. Tie that in with the complete lack of originality and Sniper Ghost Warrior 3 feels like a half-baked attempt at the genre. It could have been great; it SHOULD have been interesting, but in the end it just ends up frustrating and disappointing. There are much better games in this genre, and there is little reason to invest in this sniper's mission.”
