How this score was computed

The VGC Score is a weighted blend on a press-comparable 0-100 quality scale. Steam approval rates are first calibrated (95% positive on Steam ≈ 89.5 quality, since Steam approval skews high). Press and tracked creator reviews each count ~2x a player review and share one cap against player evidence (creator buy/skip calls pool into an approval rate, calibrated like Steam approval); all-time sentiment is capped and halved (it's context, not verdict); reviews of the current build carry the most weight when a fresh patch anchors the window; and a 'typical game' prior keeps small samples from pegging the scale. Because press reviews and Metacritic user aggregates describe the launch build, their weight decays as the game ages (3-year half-life after a 1-year grace). That's how a game that launched rough can outgrow its old reception once updates win players over. Reviews under 2h playtime (the refund window), non-Steam activations, and free copies are downweighted.

Blood: Refreshed Supply on Nintendo Switch 2 is the most complete and polished way to experience Caleb’s macabre revenge story today. It tastefully modernises the gameplay with quality-of-life features while preserving the dark atmosphere, challenging difficulty, and pitch-black humour that made the original so beloved. This is the ultimate Blood experience that's jam-packed with features and content that will please newcomers and veterans alike, and taps into every gamer's inner goth kid.

On the one hand, I had a good time with Blood: Refreshed Supply. I’m glad that the makers of Marrow and Deathwish are being compensated for their work. I love the new cutscenes, the fixes, and the Vault. It’s a no-brainer purchase for console players. On the other hand, when it comes to the PC, I’m torn. As someone who purchased Fresh Supply at full price and got disappointed, I believe this should have been a free upgrade or, at the very least, a $4.99 upgrade. Moreover, asking $30 for a nearly 30-year-old game is just crazy in this economy, I’m sure Atari had the final say in this. Blood: Refreshed Supply is good. The business model? Not so much.

Blood: Refreshed Supply is a meticulous restoration of one of the most underappreciated 90s shooters. A bloody showcase of difficulty, inventive level design, and darkly comic horror with modern technical upgrades. Night Dive Studios delivers a faithful remaster with expanded content, performance enhancements, and broad platform support. However, its steep price and controversial upgrade strategy overshadow the achievement, making this revival as divisive as it is technically impressive.

The definitive way to enjoy Monolith Software’s classic, hopefully this will get a lot of folks into a game that I spent a lot of my teenage years enjoying. I can’t imagine that Blood 2: The Chosen will get the same treatment and quite frankly, that’s absolutely fine, because it is, as the Aztecs used to say, “Not very good”.

Nightdive Studios brings us another remaster of a classic. There's definitely no blood involved. Blood is still a great retro FPS, but the Refreshed Supply remaster is useless if you own any of the previous versions of the game.

Nightdive improves upon its original port with Blood: Refreshed Supply. It feels great and looks amazing, and the creative guns and level design will keep you hooked, even if it's initially a bit hard of a game to get into.

It’s impossible to deny Blood its incredibly dense atmosphere and excellent gunplay, but the game can also disappoint you as well. Still, even after all these years, Blood remains enjoyable and serves as an interesting alternative to today’s shooters. Major praise goes to Nightdive Studios for delivering another strong remaster of a game that, despite its quality, still has a few design issues.

Blood: Refreshed Supply is a remaster of the cult classic Blood. This is actually the second remaster of the game, but this really is the definitive way to play the game. Nightdive did an amazing job with this remaster, including both of its expansions and the fan levels MARROW and Death Wish. It is still an old-fashioned FPS and has the same issues other games of the time had, but even with all that, this is still an amazing remaster of a great game.

Blood: Refreshed Supply was always a highly anticipated title by the boomer shooter crowd, and it was seemingly an impossible task due to some copyright issues. Now that the proper paperwork has been taken care of, it’s time to rejoice.

Blood: Refreshed Supply is an improved remaster of the cult classic shooter by offering new content and a more polished experience. Nightdive Studios’ previous remaster was already great, but this one goes the extra step thanks to the use of the original source code.

Nightdive Studios has done once it again with Blood: Refreshed Supply. Not only has the developer lavished its typically heady amount of polish and care on Blood: Refreshed Supply, but so too does it deserve a whole heap of credit for refreshing (pun intended), one of the best shooters of the 1990s for contemporary consoles. Boasting some incredible level design, massively satisfying weapons and a wealth of additional content, Blood: Refreshed Supply deftly mimics its resurrected protagonist by still holding up so darn well all these years later.
