How this score was computed
The VGC Score is a weighted blend on a press-comparable 0-100 quality scale. Steam approval rates are first calibrated (95% positive on Steam ≈ 89.5 quality, since Steam approval skews high). Press and tracked creator reviews each count ~2x a player review and share one cap against player evidence (creator buy/skip calls pool into an approval rate, calibrated like Steam approval); all-time sentiment is capped and halved (it's context, not verdict); reviews of the current build carry the most weight when a fresh patch anchors the window; and a 'typical game' prior keeps small samples from pegging the scale. Because press reviews and Metacritic user aggregates describe the launch build, their weight decays as the game ages (3-year half-life after a 1-year grace). That's how a game that launched rough can outgrow its old reception once updates win players over. Reviews under 2h playtime (the refund window), non-Steam activations, and free copies are downweighted.
| Component | Positive | Quality (0-100) | Weight (pseudo-reviews) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Press reviews (OpenCritic) | – | 79 | 5 |
| All-time Steam reviews | 87% | 81 | 1000 |
| Metacritic user ratings | – | 79 | 13 |
| Post-patch Steam reviews (trust-weighted) | 88% | 82 | 63 |
| Calibration prior (typical game) | – | 72 | 50 |

“Improved maps, asymmetrical warfare and a smoother multiplayer experience makes Rising Storm 2: Vietnam a noteworthy addition to the franchise.”

“Rising Storm 2: Vietnam is a must have for tactical shooter fans. Tripwire‘s latest release strikes a perfect balance between realism and fun, forcing players to work together thanks to its excellent squad mechanics and unforgiving gameplay. It’s definitely not a game for everyone, but those of us who enjoy working with others to achieve our objectives will keep coming back to it for years to come.”

“Rising Storm 2: Vietnam gets rid of WW2's single shot rifles in favor of modern automatic weapons. The gritty battles of 64 players, artillery and helicopters, where teamwork is the key, are brimming with atmosphere.”

“A fiery test of awareness, speed and accuracy which upholds the series' devotion to teamwork and authenticity, but doesn't nail the asymmetry of modern era combat.”

“Rising Storm 2: Vietnam manages to carve itself a place in an already flourishing genre, all thanks to the semi-simulation war combat. The Vietnam War makes for a distinct battleground that has been smartly incorporated into the game’s mechanics, which bring slower paced matches with more emphasis on team work and survival combat than rushing out to be a solo war hero. Rising Storm 2: Vietnam is aimed at a specific group of first-person shooter fans who are lured by the prospect of an experience more closer to the realism spectrum, and by looking at the server browser, there seems to be enough players to give this game legs. If that sounds like something enjoyable, then I can see Rising Storm 2: Vietnam becoming the multiplayer shooter of 2017 for those people.”

“Rising Storm 2: Vietnam may not be a game for everyone but I can see how deep an enthusiast could dig into the foxhole if they can survive the brutal bombardment that is the learning curve. Tie up your boots and give the game 20, 30, even 40 hours, and perhaps you'll graduate and have a very rewarding time.”

“and at the end, I must say that RS2V is exactly the game that all the fans of the Vietnam battle were waiting for. Its weird gameplay style may not attract you at first and you may think that it is a rip off of all the other games that's been released in the past but eventually, you will realize that not only RS2V has its own unique style but it doesn't even have to copy from other games. Keep in mind that RS2V's price is less than the other similar games. Playing this game is highly recommended. Go buy RS2V right now!”

“If you want to experience the "Vietnam trauma", play Rising Storm 2. This multiplayer action is almost tuned to the max and extremely nerve-wracking. Only if the authors would add more content. ”
