How this score was computed
The VGC Score is a weighted blend on a press-comparable 0-100 quality scale. Steam approval rates are first calibrated (95% positive on Steam ≈ 89.5 quality, since Steam approval skews high). Press and tracked creator reviews each count ~2x a player review and share one cap against player evidence (creator buy/skip calls pool into an approval rate, calibrated like Steam approval); all-time sentiment is capped and halved (it's context, not verdict); reviews of the current build carry the most weight when a fresh patch anchors the window; and a 'typical game' prior keeps small samples from pegging the scale. Because press reviews and Metacritic user aggregates describe the launch build, their weight decays as the game ages (3-year half-life after a 1-year grace). That's how a game that launched rough can outgrow its old reception once updates win players over. Reviews under 2h playtime (the refund window), non-Steam activations, and free copies are downweighted.

| Metacritic user ratings | – | – | 0 |
| Post-patch Steam reviews (trust-weighted) | 17% | 28 | 7 |

“Bottom-line, if you enjoyed the prior Syberia games, you'll enjoy part 3 as well. It offers some fun surprises, and I feel it'll also prove to have some endurance and stick with me. Plot strengths can't override the key technical issues though, so do wait for a needed patch and a sale if you're on the fence.”

“Syberia 3 is another useless sequel to the cult game. Some interesting puzzles and great music can't save the project, filled with scenario holes, crooked mechanics and technical problems. If you want to play classical adventure game, then choose a gorgeous Thimbleweed Park and last year's remake of King's Quest, where everything is done right. Or, alternatively, just buy the first Syberia.”

“It's been 13 years since the release of Syberia 2, but third chapter doesn't look like something Sokal was thinking about all this time, hoping to create a truly special and memorable game. No matter how hard you try to hint at one more game in the series, even nostalgic fans won't be waiting for it after what they saw in Syberia 3.”

“Syberia on the Nintendo Switch is a reasonable yet inconsistent port of an enchanting genre classic. This is an absorbing, intricate story filled with melancholy, eccentric characters and mystery demands and deserves attention, even if the game shows its age technically in some places and demonstrates a lack of care in the porting process in others. For fans of the genre, or those willing to dive in and forgive some inconsistencies, there's an endearing and worthwhile adventure here.”

“Shallow, buggy and uninspired, Syberia 3 fails to live up to its predecessors.”

“A promising closer to the Syberia trilogy of games, Syberia 3 meets hardship in the way of spotty performance in both visual and sound design. Kate Walker's latest adventure is coercive to devotees of the series, but difficult to recommend over the numerous top quality eShop games in the same genre.”

“Syberia 3 is an adventure game with good story and puzzles but because it has so many problems in other parts that they will affect the pros of the game. These problems will prevent the game to have a great experience.”

“This game feels like it should've come out over a decade ago, and even then, it still wouldn't have been ready for release. Some sprawling mechanical puzzles, an intriguing world, and a solid soundtrack can't save Syberia 3 from its disappointing delivery. Poor writing and even worse voice acting make its humdrum story a chore to chew through. With major technical issues in tow along with too much errand-like gameplay, the series should've waved a final goodbye like its protagonist in her last outing.”

“Syberia 3 featured a great lengthy story with an intriguing main character and it was memorable.”

“For a game that relies on character interaction and puzzles to tell its story, Syberia 3 falls well short of being enjoyable and fails to deliver a captivating or impactful experience.”

“A below-par return for the series. The awkward controls and slow pace detract from what is actually quite a charming little tale about the human condition. Without more to grab the attention though, it just feels like the game never gets out of first gear”

“Flawed and often out of touch, Syberia 3 only serves a dedicated clutch of fans that have spent the past decade looking for closure to a beloved series. To anyone else, it will come across as a bizarre and mostly impenetrable relic that feels out of place among 2017's slate of releases.”
