How this score was computed
The VGC Score is a weighted blend on a press-comparable 0-100 quality scale. Steam approval rates are first calibrated (95% positive on Steam ≈ 89.5 quality, since Steam approval skews high). Press and tracked creator reviews each count ~2x a player review and share one cap against player evidence (creator buy/skip calls pool into an approval rate, calibrated like Steam approval); all-time sentiment is capped and halved (it's context, not verdict); reviews of the current build carry the most weight when a fresh patch anchors the window; and a 'typical game' prior keeps small samples from pegging the scale. Because press reviews and Metacritic user aggregates describe the launch build, their weight decays as the game ages (3-year half-life after a 1-year grace). That's how a game that launched rough can outgrow its old reception once updates win players over. Reviews under 2h playtime (the refund window), non-Steam activations, and free copies are downweighted.
| Component | Positive | Quality (0-100) | Weight (pseudo-reviews) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Press reviews (OpenCritic) | – | 76 | 25 |
| All-time Steam reviews | 87% | 81 | 1000 |
| Metacritic user ratings | – | 78 | 5 |
| Post-patch Steam reviews (trust-weighted) | 95% | 89 | 7 |
| Calibration prior (typical game) | – | 72 | 50 |

“Fury Unleashed is a very enjoyable game that entertains, torments, but at the same time ends as quickly as it began. However, this is really a very good action 2D platformer that will find its place among players. In addition, the developers are very active and communicate with the community about new game modes and expansions.”

“Fury Unleashed takes the central gameplay loops of the likes of Dead Cells and Enter the Gungeon and infuses them with pulpy '90s action platforming resulting in one of the best roguelites currently available on Nintendo Switch.”

“It took five years for Fury Unleashed to find its voice, but the wait was worth it.”

“With a comic book-inspired look, a pretty wide array of over-the-top weapons, and challenges aplenty Fury Unleashed is a roguelike platform shooter with plenty of personality...”

“If a fan of over-the top action, Fury Unleashed is an easy recommendation.”

“Its biggest problem then is that it's over all too quickly. Of course, rogue-lites are designed to be replayed over and over again. However, with just four comic books to work through, you'll see everything Fury Unleashed has to offer much quicker than you might expect.”

“Fury Unleashed doesn’t hold your attention for very long. This is a good thing. This isn’t the kind of game you play for days on end, perfecting your run. Rather, this is something to come back to every once in a while, when you’ve got a few minutes to kill.”

“It’s comic book art-style looks like no comic I’ve ever seen, and its story is a massive missed opportunity that feels unfinished. It does what it does well enough, but despite a long early access, it still feels like a pencil sketch of what it could have been.”

“Fury Unleashed is an intense action/rogue-lite game with a lot of weird and different enemies and bosses from many places and eras.It also has a surprisingly heartfelt story about self doubt and artists and it's core gameplay and mechanics are everything you'd expect from a game of this genre.”

“Fury Unleashed is endlessly replayable and enormously satisfying with its appetising composition of big guns, big challenge, and even bigger rewards.”

“You know when I first saw the picture for Fury Unleashed I kinda expected this to be yet another junk food gaming rogue-lite. Some thing that I’m totally on board with. But after playing it several times and having weird nightmares about Aztec skeletons, this has easily jumped to one of my favourites in the genre. I loved the surprise heart to the story, as someone that often questions their own written work and creativity I found something to connect to; though I’ll probably never reach the heights of fame in my creative work. It’s good that video games like Fury Unleashed can remind you that moments of uncertainly are normal. And right now in this moment you are enough. Also Fury Unleashed is just brilliant.”

“The core mechanics of running and gunning while maintaining a high combo multiplier is satisfying, and taps into a primitive reptilian part of our brain. You feel eager to maintain the flow and the speed in which you move and range of abilities you get to kill, perfectly compliments the violent and irreverent tone.”
