How this score was computed
The VGC Score is a weighted blend on a press-comparable 0-100 quality scale. Steam approval rates are first calibrated (95% positive on Steam ≈ 89.5 quality, since Steam approval skews high). Press and tracked creator reviews each count ~2x a player review and share one cap against player evidence (creator buy/skip calls pool into an approval rate, calibrated like Steam approval); all-time sentiment is capped and halved (it's context, not verdict); reviews of the current build carry the most weight when a fresh patch anchors the window; and a 'typical game' prior keeps small samples from pegging the scale. Because press reviews and Metacritic user aggregates describe the launch build, their weight decays as the game ages (3-year half-life after a 1-year grace). That's how a game that launched rough can outgrow its old reception once updates win players over. Reviews under 2h playtime (the refund window), non-Steam activations, and free copies are downweighted.

| Metacritic user ratings | – | – | 0 |
| Post-patch Steam reviews (trust-weighted) | 56% | 57 | 1 |

“SCARF offers a lot of bang for your buck. This pleasant, relaxing game is entertaining, but not for long. It’s truly a shame that a title that excels in so many ways ends all too soon, and with an unsatisfying conclusion, to boot. Even so, I have to praise the visuals, the immersive atmosphere, the audio, the gameplay, and the simple puzzles that blend seamlessly with the surroundings. SCARF has left a lasting impression on me thanks to its many positives, but also a few negatives.”

“Scarf doesn't brave new platforming territory, but platforming newbies will appreciate its forgiving nature, and it tells an interesting and often dark story in an engaging way.”

“Scarf is an endearing experience. It wears its inspirations on its sleeve and doesn’t shatter the genre’s conventions with innovative ideas, but still finds enough sure footing to set itself apart from its contemporaries. Moreover, an unsurprising story and a few instances of intentional time-wasters in puzzles aren’t enough to lessen the benefits of its brisk pace and variety of gorgeous environments. It may not hit the highest highs of the genre, but if you’re in the mood for an atmospheric puzzle platformer, you could do much worse.”

“Short but sweet, Scarf is an intriguing, enjoyable little game for most of its runtime.”

“While it’s not pushing the genre any further forward, Scarf is a perfectly pleasant way to spend 6 hours of your life. As a non-combative puzzle platformer, it lacks originality. Thankfully, a clever two sided narrative carries the game as it tells both sides of a tale and positions the player in the centre. Just make sure you play this game with a guide so you don’t have to replay whole levels again.”

“Scarf is a beautiful and short ethereal experience with a special atmosphere, jumping and simple object-based puzzles. Such a pleasant little indie gem that will last an evening or two.”

“Scarf does not add anything new to its genre, but the simple mechanics and stunning visuals make this short and relaxing experience enjoyable. However, the controls and puzzles could have been better.”

“SCARF is a singer without a voice and a dancer without legs. There were tons of things that could have been great within it, but none of them were capitalised on, and it felt like there weren't enough resources spent on where it mattered.”

“The game Scarf consists of a colorful, soft world held together by the adventurous story and the relationship between two different creatures. The blue creature and other creatures occasionally seem to float above the ground instead of walking. In addition, the puzzles become too repetitive at some point. However, if you are looking for a light and colorful game where you are sucked into the story, then Scarf is the game you want to play.”

“Scarf is an enjoyable 3D puzzle platformer with a low difficulty but a very big heart. It’s ideal if you’re looking for a casual game to enjoy with minimal stress. A short experience that doesn’t outstay is welcome. The only mild niggle I had is some of the formulas to the puzzles became a touch familiar over time. Still, it’s a very cute game with a nice relaxing soundtrack (another one to add to the list on Steam). Whenever I put on my scarf while I’m out and about this winter it will be hard for me not to think there’s a hidden dragon spirit inside it.”

“Scarf is a nice if not particularly original idea, disappointingly executed on almost all fronts.”
