How this score was computed
The VGC Score is a weighted blend on a press-comparable 0-100 quality scale. Steam approval rates are first calibrated (95% positive on Steam ≈ 89.5 quality, since Steam approval skews high). Press and tracked creator reviews each count ~2x a player review and share one cap against player evidence (creator buy/skip calls pool into an approval rate, calibrated like Steam approval); all-time sentiment is capped and halved (it's context, not verdict); reviews of the current build carry the most weight when a fresh patch anchors the window; and a 'typical game' prior keeps small samples from pegging the scale. Because press reviews and Metacritic user aggregates describe the launch build, their weight decays as the game ages (3-year half-life after a 1-year grace). That's how a game that launched rough can outgrow its old reception once updates win players over. Reviews under 2h playtime (the refund window), non-Steam activations, and free copies are downweighted.

“Zombie Army 4: Dead War might be one of the most technically impressive games to come to Nintendo Switch in quite some time. With all the action on screen, the game manages to maintain a smooth and consistent experience regardless of how many enemies or online players are present. It's a goofy, campy title that knows it's goofy and steers into that goofiness throughout your adventure. It's also unique in that it's as much fun to play by yourself as it is to play with friends, although I have to admit playing with friends makes the experience a little more hysterical. While the character movement is too janky for its own good, this doesn't ruin the experience at all. Put simply, if you're looking for a good zombie shooter to play by yourself or with friends, then Zombie Army 4 must absolutely be at the top of your list.”

“A decent co-op game that offers nothing but killing tons of zombies. If that's enough for you and your friends, then go ahead and save Europe from the evil dead.”

“Zombie Army 4: Dead War performs very well on the Nintendo Switch. If you’re an experienced player on this console, you won’t have any trouble with the controls at first. Graphically, the game looks decent, with the X-ray mode and mild gore adding to the fun. Unfortunately, over time, the gameplay and everything else becomes somewhat monotonous. Still, it’s a very good title that I can recommend to all fans of zombie games.”

“Zombie Army 4: Dead War is a surprisingly solid Switch port of one of our favourite Rebellion titles thus far. There's a ton of zombie Nazi-slaying sweetness to get stuck into here and, although the graphics have taken a hit and the frame rate has been halved in comparison to other platforms, what's here is eminently playable in both docked and handheld modes. Whether you're taking on Hitler's undead hordes alone or with a few friends in tow, this one's a ton of schlocky B-movie fun that gets a great big thumbs up from us.”

“New mechanics, enemies and a much more fluid campaign revitalizes what, to me, felt like a dead (no pun intended) franchise. Rebellion might have taken three games and a big gamble with Strange Brigade, but its foundations turn Zombie Army 4 one of the best games they’ve ever created.”

“Need a fun, atmospheric, campy, and sometimes humorous co-op zombie shooter? Zombie Army 4: Dead War is pretty much a no-brainer.”

“The Sniper Elite series has been a pretty consistent source of stealthy Nazi body count accumulation on the Switch, and now that same base engine has been pointed a significantly more deadly version of that same classic threat… in the form of zombies!”

“It's fair to say that Zombie Army 4: Dead War won't be winning an award for originality any time soon, but it's hard to deny the simplistic joys of placing a well aimed explosive bullet into the crusty cranium of a distant, slow-moving cannibal corpse.”

“The shooting is among the best around and the X-ray shots are endlessly entertaining. I just wish there were more here to hold my attention past a single playthrough.”

“ Zombie Army 4: Dead War is an absolute riot of a title that is just as cheeky as it is fun to play.”

“A solid zombie shooter with plenty of replayability that struggles at time with pacing”
