How this score was computed
The VGC Score is a weighted blend on a press-comparable 0-100 quality scale. Steam approval rates are first calibrated (95% positive on Steam ≈ 89.5 quality, since Steam approval skews high). Press and tracked creator reviews each count ~2x a player review and share one cap against player evidence (creator buy/skip calls pool into an approval rate, calibrated like Steam approval); all-time sentiment is capped and halved (it's context, not verdict); reviews of the current build carry the most weight when a fresh patch anchors the window; and a 'typical game' prior keeps small samples from pegging the scale. Because press reviews and Metacritic user aggregates describe the launch build, their weight decays as the game ages (3-year half-life after a 1-year grace). That's how a game that launched rough can outgrow its old reception once updates win players over. Reviews under 2h playtime (the refund window), non-Steam activations, and free copies are downweighted.

“The concept of Super Animal Royale is very now, it draws on all the familiarities of modern mainstream gaming. In a way, then, you could say it's cutting-edge. In another way, though, it's all just very familiar, to the point that it's strangely unremarkable. No individual aspect of it stands out, but it does form an endearing whole. It feels cool to play (when there's no grievous lag), the map is compelling and the battle royale formula is as much of a buzz as ever. The monetisation model is not in-your-face and the player base is certainly there. It's free, it's under a gigabyte, it's fast, and it's a good laugh. Why not download it?”

“Overall it's a competent addition to the growing battle royale family, particularly for less experienced players.”

“Whenever you run into a free-to-play title it's always a bit of a challenge to rake them over the coals when people could literally try them out and make their own decision for free...”

“Super Animal Royale is a wonderfully fun battle royale that is very welcoming of casual players. Combat is fast, and the mechanics are simple. You're never be left wondering what you did wrong. You just need to click on bad animals. Matches are short and you don't spend a ton of time looting, so the fear of death is much lower than in other battle royales. Super Animal Royale is the kind of game you should always have on your PC.”

“Overall, Super Animal Royale is a fun, fast paced game that anyone can truly enjoy. If you are tired of the current sweaty Battle Royales, Super Animal Royale is the breath of fresh air you need. I highly recommend this to veterans of the genre and newcomers alike.”

“Super Animal Royale brings a welcome approach to the battle royale genre of games and bears a clothing that makes it accessible for all age groups, thus toning down the more violent inclinations of its peers. This doesn't mean Super Animal Royale is a game for kids only though, far from it - its frantic, intense gameplay and relatively short bouts of play make it perfect for anyone looking for a fun-packed experience, with the additional advantage of crossplay between platforms.”

“Super Animal Royale treads on the Royale genre with a twist on the formula, a top-down twin stick shooter with cute animals shooting the heck outta each other. Go in gently and with patience as it’s brutal for beginners, but those brave enough to stick it out will find an awful lot to enjoy. And we ain’t lion.”

“Super Animal Royale provides some crazy chaotic fun in a such a cute way that you can’t help yourself from having a big smile while playing it, even if you got brutally murdered the moment you set foot on the ground because who gets angry at a katana wielding cat?”

“As is the case with many battle royale titles, a player’s enjoyment of Super Animal Royale might ultimately boil down to how quickly they can get a handle on the game’s simple mechanics - and how many near-instant deaths they’re willing to put up with to get to that point. Still, Super Animal Royale contains enough charm and cute unlockables to give it that “one more game” factor, and there is enough bite-size fun to make it a decent time-waster for those so inclined.”

“With its kooky animal-battle royale concept, fast and addictive gameplay loop, and fair monetization systems, it’s difficult to not have fun with Super Animal Royale. Pixile Games has crafted a title that feels like a breath of fresh air in a genre that never seems to stop churning out new entries. Even if you’re like me, and sometimes shy away from battle royale games due to their inaccessibility, this is title definitely worth checking out. You never know, as with me, you may find yourself stumbling across a new obsession!”

“Overall, Super Animal Royale doesn’t really do anything groundbreaking, but it is still a fresh entry into the battle royale genre with its cute animal theme and the ability to quickly get into games without much waiting around. Cross play adds a lot of possible players to the pool and what’s here in the package works and it’s fun to play. The game does just enough to keep you coming back for more without being such a huge time commitment.”

“Super Animal Royale taught me how much fun I can have with a Battle Royale. It's very accessible and fun while technically unremarkable.”
